For me the dw104 is just a little quicker edge to edge, and the meridian pivots better. Not much of a surprise there. For a full rocker ski the meridians flat out charge, a little more chargey in the chop. I feel like I ski more bouncy and popping around on the dw. Where as the meridians I feel like I slarve around slashing where I can. The edge hold is better on the dw, as expected. If I had a quiver of 1 I would want the meridian, but in a few ski rotation the dw really shines.

Probably sounds strange to say it, but I'm finding the Commander easier to ski in steep tech than the Hotshot. Primarily because it's got some strength underfoot and is easy to shut down when I'm making hop turns or tight, firm, mogul turns.

Which Commander? 2300g makes me think 188cm Commander 108.

I don't really have any advice, but also looking at the DW 104 (or Commander 102??) as a steep tech ski, so interested in what others have to say on the subject.

I skied the Meridian as my only inbounds setup for two seasons and it was awesome almost everywhere. Super quick, okay float, and very supportive in chop and firm landings. I think you will appreciate something a little wider if you regularly ski low-angle, untracked deep snow, but they're great otherwise.

I ended up swapping mine for 186cm Governors just because my Meridians were so swiss-cheesed from prior users that the only mount I could make work was -0.5cm from true center, and I was kind of tired of skiing backseat in deep snow. I do miss the quickness of full rocker inbounds, though; on Sunday I had an impromptu inbounds day on my properly-mounted 181cm Meridian Tours and it was one of my best days of the season so far.

So yeah, you sound get some Meridians. Maybe I'll pick some up, too.

I think the 2300g was referring to the Hotshot, could be wrong.

Yes, was referring to the Hotshot at 2300g.

The Commander 102 is worth a look. I may be over thinking it and it's the ski I need to be on most days. I didn't buy it for that role, but the only day I've been unhappy on it was a zero vis storm day where there was rock hard icy moguls under a thin fresh cover. Not the ski for that day, but outside of that, it rips. I've skied it to about 10" of pow and it worked great there. Slays chalk. Solid on icy/firm. I've always daily driven a more progressive twin, but..... Hmmmmm.

When I bought the Commander I actually went in for the 101 Wildcat, but here we are.

I should probably try to get the Wildcat, Deathwish and Meridian out for demo.

Tour variant might be in the cards but have also been considering a fatcat tour. Full rocker just sounds like too much fun. Meridian 117 tour would solve my problems.

Currently skiing the meridians and blades up in Tahoe. Meridians are amazing daily drivers. They’re my favorite daily ski in my moment quiver. Dw 104 is second. Ghost train is my overall fave

Yo dude. Hope you're having fun. I'm headed out to SB in a few for some sunshine laps. Bringing ,y Commanders for the AM and park skis for after lunch.

OK, talk to me about the Meridian/Deathwish 1,2. I understand where the reverse ski would be fun. Should pivot super easy and float effortlessly on softer days.

I'm looking for a more playful ski than the Commander that can be everywhere on the mountain. Not so much in fresh snow, but blown around pockets of fresh. It's gotta be quick, light enough and really maneuverable in spots that you question whether you want to be in: Scraped off rocks over exposure. Icy bumps, etc. An added bonus would be solid edge grip on blown off groomers where it could be soft one turn and ice the next. Per what I'm reading, the Deathwish 104 looks like this ski.

Basically, I'm looking for a DD for this year whereas the Hotshot was the ripping DD last year when it was soft most days.

DW 104 sounds like what you’re describing. The meridian is a cool ski, but truly firm conditions it’s less skiing and more just being defensive to get down the hill. I ski kirkwood and the moment skis this year are Cmd 108, meridian, dw112.

You can daily the meridian on almost any day that’s not bulletproof though

Kinda what I thought and what you describe about the Meridian is about how I feel about the Hotshot. I can ski it anywhere except bulletproof snow.

Seeing talk about the DW 104. I've been riding it for several weeks at Stevens Pass in everything from 1/2 day post storm, heavy dense, powder, chop and hard pack, re-freeze, and now mashed potato/slush. I think those recommending this as an east coast daily driver are doing a disservice to what Moment has done by creating a stiffer and narrower DW. In all of the aforementioned conditions the DW 104 does very well to excellent. I've never been on a ski this narrow that can go off piste at a place like Stevens Pass and hang with the wide boys (i.e. wider skis such as the WC 108, DW 112, etc.), but also absolutely rail hard pack, groomers, moguls, etc. It's very planted and can charge through chop, but also slashs, pivots, and can be overall playful all in a single run. It also feels greater for landing all kinds of drops...and landing and skiing switch is so easy. All in all, I see myself even at a place like Stevens Pass riding this quite often.

Looking for some advice. Live in Reno and have been demoing skis from Moment. Mostly ski Palisades or go touring and I already have Voile Hypervectors with ATKs. Planning on adding 2 skis to the collection. One Powder (110+), and a daily for the resort.

6', 160. Advanced. will rip groomers with the GF, but like to find the soft snow off-piste in the bowls, chutes, and trees. suck at bumps, will hit <5' drops.

Demos:
Rustler 10 - hated, sluggish, dead ride
Bent 100 - actually lots of fun, maybe a little soft, but bumps were enjoyable

DW104 - bit of a learning curve for the first few runs - but was at alpine with no new snow...
Commander 92 - awesome. super fun with no new snow
Commander 102 - still pretty good on groomers, took me for a ride in some bumps.

Looking for some suggestions. I really liked the Commander 92. I could see it being great for 90% of days, although its way narrower than this "consensus" of ~105 for a daily west coast ski. Any experience with how it handles <12" of fresh? Maybe pair it with a WC/DW tour?

Long-time Moment fanboy: Bibby, Deathwish, Deathwish Tour, Bibby Tour, PBJ, Wildcat 108, Commander 98, WCT 108, Chipotle Banana. That list is sort of embarrassing, but hey, I like me some skis made less than 45 minutes from home with amazing CS. Thanks Moment.

Recently picked up some well-used 187 Meridians from a guy in the neighborhood. Finally got them out Saturday afternoon for a rip. Conditions were wintry chalk on N-faces, and corn / soft spring snow on S-faces, and mixed conditions on E-faces.

Every couple years, I get on a ski that blows my mind. The Meridian was it. So surfy and yet powerful, I could easily see using this at the resort basically any day that has a touch of soft in the snow.

I vastly preferred it over the Wildcat 108 and Deathwish with no real doubt it. The only Moment ski I've liked more -- on my first day -- were my all-time favorite ski ever, the 190 Bibby from 12/13.

Incredible ski - I wish more people could experience it because it is such a revelation in how different skis can feel (loose, surfy, playful) and yet still rail the shit out of groomers and blast through mixed crud. I cannot wait to use them on a pow / storm day.

I'm still not completely sold on my CBs (after 4 or 5 pow days) , but I am 100% immediately sold on the Meridians. It's a special ski.

Deathwish 104 skis can absolutely rail turns on the piste. I still prefer the DW112 overall. Shocker, I know. Have not been on Meridians.

I’m team 666, DW112 is my DD. Really haven’t found any conditions I can’t ski it in. On my second pair and castified them, so I truly can take them everywhere.

As I said before in here, I think I went too short on my DW104s (184). I would like to try the 104s in a 190 as that what my DWs are. Also want to try the Meridians.

I'm in Reno and will be unloading my 190cm Wildcat 108s mounted with Warden 13s soon. Only reason I'm selling is because I have too many skis in the 10X range, including the Wildcat 101 and Meridian. Would be a fun pairing with a narrower ski like the Comander 92. DM me if interested.
