Yeah, the Trax/Bus monitors are questionable, but so are the ones from purple air. Look at the regulatory squares on the Mesowest map if you want to nitpick.

Bird was fully on hold at 930 when we drove by, all lifts at Alta. Skiing was rough. Did not get buffed like we’d hoped and we boogied by 1145. Vibes to the apparent car off the road at 7 turns on the way down.

sorry all, this is my last post on the subject. We have all made our decisions RE air quality if we live in the SL Valley.

This is from the horse’s mouth for PurpleAir. These wind events are much more PM10 than PM2.5.

I tried to look into the KSL app’s source but their website is opaque and the link they have to the EPA 404s.

    There's your PM 10. [emoji2369]

I know Adrian, the founder of PurpleAir. I trust him and his data.

I have a PurpleAir monitor on my house.

todaly Alta feels like that one little slick of calm water behind the big exposed boulder in a class 5 rapid. maybe once-a-month windy but not once-a-decade windy. not the greatest skiing but the peeps on vacation are pretty stoked to still get a full day in while most of the state is on wind hold

I could delete or edit the above post and pray that only BobMc saw it but that wouldn't be any fun. I hope that tBatt can help me re-insert my foot into my mouth and share how boring this wind event was for some folks.

Lightning! Dang. Big graupel, then heavy small grained stuff, now real flakes. From the vantage point of the photo, if you can't see Collins lift, snowfall rate is 3+ inches an hour <3

just 'cause it didn't work out for you this time doesn't mean you made the wrong decision! most folks in the neighborhood who waited it out ended up getting sent home (lightning closures, etc) right when it was about to get good.

Damn lightning! Final 2 hrs at Brighton was shaping up for my extended family in town. Thought we earned it by getting up early and skiing the limited open terrain. Not to be, but boy was it nuking as we drove down!

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Anyone have half a pair of P18s lying around? First lost ski in over a decade today.

The Bird was good skiing but definitely not the best day of the season. Pretty variable and the deep stuff was a little upside down and wind affected. Reg traverse was pretty sporty.

I have a whole pair you can have but they have brakes for race skis.

As much as I complain about the Ikon Pass and Solitude, yesterday made me remember why I love the place. Rolled up at 9:30, headed towards Summit that they just opened, got in 3 great headwall laps (just kept traversing towards scree field, nobody was out there..) got the rope drop on Honeycomb, was the 3rd person into Black Forest, everyone in front of me on the traverse dropped early.) Top to bottom white room - I need a snorkel snow) , headed up and over to Navarone gate and got a nice lap in there, again it was empty.. Got scared about the drive down and bailed early. Back at the bottom by 2..
Felt like real winter up there again!

Thanks for the offer. Yeah, need 115 brakes. P15s would work as well.
