    '23 - '24 NCAA Hoops

First games of the season tonight. I'm cautiously excited about a long-hoped-for resurgence of Georgetown Basketball now that we have an actual coach (Ed Cooley) who knows what he's doing. Kind of cool that we have Dikembe Mutombo's son Ryan and Gheorghe Muresan's kid Victor on the squad, they'll be interesting to watch at least.

But I'm really excited that we have a transfer in from Fairfield by the name of Supreme Cook. I'm gonna stay away from cheesy Dad jokes for now but I love that name and can't wait to see what he serves up.

Went up to the XL Center last night.
    UCONN vs MSVU
Ugly game. Some highlights - Samson Johnson has returned after being out all last year.
Could be a nice 1-2 with Donovan Clingan.
Transfer Cam Spencer can knock down the 3.
Solomon Ball (F) looks like he's got upside.
Highly touted freshman Stephon Castle did not suit up due to sustaining a knee injury in the last game vs Stonehill.
Was really hoping to be able to check him out early in his career.
With 3 starters from last year gone to the NBA and 5 freshmen things are going to take awhile to mesh.

There were were a couple of good games on TV last night, Mich. St-Duke and Kentucky-Kansas. Aside from Bilas badly wanting to give KU's Hunter Dickinson a blowjob it was pretty entertaining.

My Xavier Musketeers hung with #2 Purdue pretty well Monday night keeping it to 9 points and under till garbage time. It's a complete rebuild from last year's Sweet 16 team so my expectations are low but with Sean Miller back at the helm I think they can make some noise in the Big East.

So I turn on Pitt-WVU, usually a good rivalry game, and...No Huggy Bear?? Shit I missed that he retired. I was pretty sure he'd die before he retired, glad I was wrong. Always liked that guy for some reason.

*2nd embarrassing DUI - the first was when he lost a couple bottles of red from his gut on dashcam after taping his coaches show at UC in his uni-provided Lexus.

Iceman also must have missed when he went back on Cincinnati radio to call Xavier students a bunch of “fags” multiple times on air shortly before this last DUI.

(Sorry we got the best of you Huggs, I always rooted for your teams, lol)

It’s all good though, UC will likely get their 3rd Crosstown Shootout win in 15 years over X this weekend as X (led my Sean Miller 2.0) currently is fielding 10 freshman after their S16 players graduated

Clearly I have not followed Coach Huggins nor West Virginia basketball very closely but Huggy just seemed like kind of an icon of some weird type, I dunno. I didn't know any of that other stuff but I can't say I'm amazed.

Marquette coach Shaka Smart beat his former team Texas! Good for him, I thought he got screwed when they fired him.

A friend works at Gonzaga and had an extra ticket so invited me to a game last week. I had a pretty good time, I guess that means I have to be a zags fan now.

The Huggins story is really weird, has it fully played out yet? Because he retired (which everyone viewed as forced out, but agreed on retired language), then claimed he never retired and never communicated that to the school. And was going to file suit to get his job back.

My GF is a huge CU fan, has season tickets, so I guess I'm gonna see some games. They actually seem somewhat decent this year

Staying quiet until the final buzzer, that's where. There's only so much Sean Miller can do with 11 underclassmen, but I like how they're progressing, getting better with each game and staying in the fight against top10 teams so far.

I do enjoy some Wednesday night Big East basketball and its fun seeing all these great coaches back in the Conference together in Miller, Thad Matta, Pitino, Cooley, Smart, et al.

On a plane to Kentucky right now. Will be in Rupp Arena tomorrow night when Tennessee comes to town to play the Wildcats. Then on to Nashville for Kentucky at Vandy. Back to Lexington next Saturday for Gonzaga-UK. Stoked!
