Yesterday was fantastic wind buff at Mission, good visibility even some sun. Ghost town. We left at 1300 and went home and took a nap. Headed back up at 1700 and it was dumping wet snow in the lot. Great skiing above midway, windy and snowing hard. Gratuitous shots in the igloo and a couple hours of great night storm skiing. Finished with apres beverage and home by 2030. Bonus was we got the closest spot to the stairs by Chair 1 at 1700

And it has a bar inside, keeps the tourons amused. There’s wooden benches and a couple spots carved out of the walls with cowhide to sit on. It’s cheesy in the best way

Interesting day at Stevens. Light rain and a decent rain corn going on but touchy snow pack. This morning patrol was on double diamond just skiing it to check out conditions and set off a D2 slide that ran all the way down to I5 (halfway down Khers chair). I loaded a bit early to help set up the race course for the day but they quickly closed behind us to bomb the ridge above. They also closed Skyline for a bit around 11 to bomb the little slope below the top of that chair and close off anything close to the Cowboy mtn ridge. Needless to say 7th, tye and back side not open as they are spooked after the dd slide with so much liquid in the pack.

I was on chair four when I found out. We could see it. Pretty much the crown went all the way across the top of Nertz. I didn’t even think to take a photo but you could see it from the parking lot. I think it went down to the same layer as when Castle went several weeks ago before they opened it. We skied A La at about the same time as the slide on Nertz went I’m guessing. They closed chair two after that.

Badger! Steve told me they were going to try and open this weekend. Good times up there, skiing like it used to be.

That's pretty crazy. Hard to imagine the terrain under Skyline would be very avalanche prone.

The ridge line to skier’s right of Skyline, where you can exit Bobby Chute, produced a bunch of wet slides from the early season Pineapple Express and massive debris chunks would tumble down onto the Skyline groomer. I’m guessing a repeat is what they were concerned about.

Everyone I ski crystal with, including myself, has given up a core shot to six at some point in '24 already. Always sharky on the traverse but it's just never gotten a chance to fill in this year.

Crystal cams around the mountain are rather brown, afraid there’ll need to be quite a dump (or 3) before anything steep is skiable again
