Hey has anyone been to the Maple Fest in Ellicottville? Is it as busy and well-attended as they claim? My wife just reserved a booth space there so I guess I'll be in town the last weekend of April.

I feel like getting hit by a train could mimic the effects of being impaired by alcohol. Not saying he wasn’t impaired by alcohol- just want to wait for the blood test results. And why the hell rely on a field sobriety test? I know Massena is way the fuck up there and tiny but they must have a breathalyzer or two available to them. Also, is it possible my HS (located in Troy) actually played Massena? I have some vague memory of us playing Massena but looking at a map now, that seems impossible. My brain is going for sure.

Massena Man could probably make a run at Florida Man for the undisputed Jack Assery title. While I love the North Country, things get a little strange north of the Dacks, and things get really strange near Massena.

Brownski, Massena is a class A school. You might have played them if you were at Troy or Lasalle. I don't think the Burgh would have played them.

I would not be surprised to hear you remember brawls in the stands as well.

Definitely happened when my son's team went to Utica to play (not at the Aud). It was the game before his so not our parents but it was a good one with women pulling hair and swearing like sailors. Such good examples....

This could have gone in the Stuff that Annoys you thread but putting it here.

Anyone been on the NY St Thruway lately- far western end? They just this past summer finally did a bunch of re-paving sections that were pretty rough for years. Considering it is a Toll Road, usually would expect better. But part of the sections that were the roughest were through the Indian Reservation land. They finally settled the fighting, but the section I just drove was even further west of the Reservation lands.

Anyway the now maybe 6 to 9 month old completely resurfaced paving job has the top coat of blacktop popping out and missing sections all along with pot holes everywhere. Not sure if it was the paving contractor (if State did not do the work), or if the underlying base preparation was not done properly or what the issue is, but it was terrible drive.
