Asym years of BGs are essentially the same as the old model everyone loves, just with the Asym part, right?

Eh I love my Asym BGs, but I know the earlier version is the Goldilocks version for people here.

Yeah, they are still great, just not quite as good. Lots of big Asym fans out there.

I had both for a brief moment in time. Just my opinion but the difference is small. I think the older version is more chargey and the newer more snappy? Both deliver in all conditions I just found the asymmetrical was more forgiving in the tight trees and funky snow. Could have been the 2cm length difference? That said I have been on my J110’s most of the season and Damn they are stupid fun. The center mount was hard to adjust to as I’m older and set in my ways but the more I ski them the better they get.

Agree on the difference being minimal. Every RES BG i get on my immediate reaction is; Yep, it's a Billygoat.

And yah....J110 has a lot to offer if you are willing to make an adjustment to the moun type.

The previous version is better in dense PNW conditions. I’ve put equal time on my 189 Asyms and they are not quite as loose and easy, but I can push them harder. I think the 189 Asym is the best “all around” Billy Goat. I love mine.

The 187 of 2022 is the best rendition of the BG hands down.

I’m 6’4” 230lbs and skied the 192BGT last season and got along great with them. Would I be fine going down to a 187 with ATK Freeraider15’s for my go to tour ski? Other tour skis for various conditions are 188Camox, 191Jeff110, 191 Caylor. I didn’t have any real issues with the 192 on my previous BGT but thinking less weight and easier skinning/packability would be worth slightly less downhill stability?

I ski the 187 BGT 118 and I’m quite a bit smaller than you. Personally, at your size I’d stick with the 19X length no question. But YMMV. I could see going with a 187 in a narrower touring ski, but not for the BGT.

I found the 187 of 2022 BG tails too stiff for my liking. Still love the 184 Asym the best.

Just got loaned a pair of 186 2015 BG that I'm going to test out to see what the hypes about.

Had some fresh turns A/B’ing BGs today. Asym 189 veneers and the 110 187s. A cold 9” reported and about 3” on the car when I left. While I had fun on both- the day went to the ‘22 110s. Trees were the game today and the boards were so in-sync. Plus the soft main runs are just better when they’re underfoot.
I’ve had times when I thought they might not have the magic but looking back I was just in too shallow of snow. Wrong ski expecting too much.
Hammered multiple rocks in a blind runout today. The worst impact I can remember with granite. Was bumming. Got back to the car and to my surprise couldn’t even tell except a small burr. Bomber skis as we know.

    I'm 5'9" 145lbs and ski a 187 BGT. FWIW.

Thats super helpful info. I am on season 3 skiing the 110s in stock layup, never had the opportunity to ski any wider brethren but I have been really interested in how they compare and what, if anything, I'm missing out on.

I keep going back and forth on the 108 tour or a 118, so I guess I'm back to leaning towards the 108 since maybe the gap between the 110s and full width isnt that noticeable.

I got on the pair of 118 Jeffs I picked up from Session today. 186 feels way better than the 181 length for me, hands down. Despite the additional width/weight/length/stiffness they feel looser in deep snow than my K2 Reckoner 112s yet also far more stable.

How silly would it be to take 187 BGT 118s on a hut trip where new snow if any will be shallow? forecast is calling for 1ish” per day max. I’ve only had em out on deep days to date…

Nice clear weather to get up high? I'm sure they'd ski fine, but with that forecast I'd grab something lighter and go crush a ton of vert.

Glad you got out on them and are happy. I guess since we're Eskimo Brother's now we should at some point share some turns.

I have 2015/16 OG 116 billy goats and just added stock layup billy goat 110 They are different for sure 116 is a beast and rolls over everything It slashes and pivots well Great deep day ski

The 189 cease and desist feels similar but asymmetric tips make it pivot more and just unsinkable

Now the 110 is unique Still floats well and you can drive the shovel and really stand on it, but tails feel looser and it’s a bit better on groomers Great all mountain up to a foot or 18” pow ski

    ON3P makes great skis
110 for everyday just can’t go wrong
    116 for mobbing and crushing
C&D for stupid deep but still rips groomers on the way back to the pow

I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

I hope the patient is doing well.

Just came to add a bit of C&D (BG asym version) and BG (2017, pre-asym) stoke.

I could have skied my C&Ds all day today - they were oh so good. When you get them up to speed it kinda feels like you are stood on a hoovercraft with lift off right in front of the balls of the feet - just magical. Switched to the BGs since things was starting to be pretty tracked out. They were sweet as well - better at cutting through but not as floaty. I went back to the C&Ds and that was the correct choice.

I've been on 184 2017 pre-asyms, asyms in 179 and 184 and BG118s in 182. The first is my favorite. Asyms are freaking magical at charging in dense snow, but too loose out back for how I ski in the dry snow we are fortunate to get most of the time. 182 BG118s were also very good, but not quite up to replacing both my 2017 BGs and C&Ds that they were kinda intended to do. I now see the error in my ways and will keep both. Both of the asyms and the 118s now have new, happy homes

BG110 182s in the stock layup felt like substantially less ski than any wider RES ski that I have been on. I should have bought them in 187 for a true comparison.

And man, I regret selling my BG108tours to buy said 110s. Freaking magical touring skis, where I belatedly found that the 110s did not make sense for my quiver (I prefer non-RES ski in that segment for resort skis).
