Hope your visit gives you some answers Harry.

It was a pretty abysmal weekend for skiing most everywhere I think. Garbage. Made the most of it Sunday and Monday lapping the two runs open at the nut.

Good night of snowmaking last night. I'm sure some runs will be opening back up today with a much improved surface.

Lots of “hope” for better stuff right now for sure. Good stretch of cold ahead though, so at least snowmaking can happen. Not gonna count on anything for “real deal” snow, but I’ve lived through brown winters before - but not 50’s through the holidays. Hope this isn’t going to start becoming a new norm…

Reached out to Harry this morning and we’ll get the visit expedited in case this was a warning shot…

Spent most of the day at Mayo Clinic’s urgent care/ER.

Bunch of tests, no clear answers. I feel fine.

Thank you everyone. I did not think many people payed attention to the Midwest Stoke thread, but this morning my phone was blowing up with texts and calls from maggots all over the country. I appreciate all the concern. Makes me feel good.

I will update as I find out more info.

Thanks again to AxeBiker and Bacon Me Crazy, those two immediately called it a day and took care of me.

Just to recap how this all went down, and since I know all you dentists love to over analyze every situation.

My first visit to Welch Village, but both of these mags are longtime passholders there. Typical Midwest hotlapping, we ran a fast crew. Having fun despite the conditions. We were on a steep groomer, those two in the lead and me close behind, when I felt my world close in on me, my vision went down into a tunnel and time slowed down. Next thing I knew I was stopped on the ground. I got my shit together, clicked back into my bindings and skated over to where those two were waiting for me. I don’t remember falling. I don’t know what made me black out. But I definitely blacked out before the fall, not the other way around. So I was probably only out 10 seconds or so.

I’m fine now. I was fine then too. To be honest, that freaks me out.

One of the maggots who texted me this morning pointed out that I probably should start a bar-down policy when I’m on a lift. That’s a good idea.

No I did not, and I should have. After we sat down in the lodge one of the first things I thought of was low BP. I’ve been on BP meds for a number of years and when I first started on them I was having lightheadedness from being too low until we got the dosage dialed. But that was years ago and I haven’t had issues since. When I got home I did check it and it was somewhat lower than normal but not by much.

Dang Harry, that sucks. Leaves you wondering what happened.

Something similar happened to my very healthy 80 year old father this summer. Apparently he was sitting in his recliner after reading the paper, my Mom came out from doing laundry to check on him and he was apparently foaming at the mouth and in some sort of seizure state. He was taken to the hospital for overnight observation, tested until the "cow's came home". Nothing was found. He's had extended EEG's done, interpreted and nothing seems to answer what happened. Still leaves us trying to figure out what happened.

Enough jibber-jabber about medical stuff, let’s talk about what’s important:

Hey GSinister, how was Trollhaugen today ?

So did my wife... Got a dusting of snow here, at least it was cold enough where it wasn't rain again.

Vibes Harry, hope you get it figured out. Want to get over and ski with you guys at least once this year.

Went up to Brule Sunday. Plan was Nordic but weather service said roads were awful headed south and I'm halfway between them. Had a little over half their runs open, bulletproof down the middle, but the sugar that got pushed to the sides was fun. The double chair by the lodge was kicking ass today. I don't think I've ever seen so many people get mowed down by a lift chair in one day. Felt bad for the liftie, he was good and trying to help people as much as possible but some just weren't getting it.

No stoke from today, somehow my day got away from me……. Last Friday at Afton Alps was good. The sun was out and the runs that were open had a fair base.

If you squint real hard you can almost see my house across the river and to the left. Almost…….

(( just a stray thought - Lots of exposure(s) associated with military service ( even decades ago )
    Please remind the docs... ))

    Good thought about monitoring your BP ;
you could carry a cuff and stethoscope in a pouch that would almost lay flat under your jacket
( there are also minimal values for radial, brachial, and carotid pulses that ...
( the first study that comes-up - National Library of Medicine - discounts this historic teaching. Radial pulse >80, carotid pulse >60 ) )

They say when you fall off a horse get right back on it. So I went to Trollhaugen with axebiker today. Local maggot naedward81 had a buddy pass for me (Thanks Bro!) but he could not join us. So he taped my buddy pass to his garage door and axebiker picked it up on the way.

Skiing is so much fun. I had a real good time today.

Edit to add: on Friday’s Trollhagen stays open till 3am with lifts spinning and live punk bands. I can’t even imagine what that scene is like….

    Awesome Harry!

Chestnut is back and managed to get enough snow down for races this weekend. The steeps aren't in yet, but getting closer!

Though I no longer live in the Midwest, I am very appreciative of the ongoing stoke you bring out for the little hills of MN/WI.

You’re just happy to be skiing and that’s awesome—I hope you’re able to continue for a long time.

^^^ x2. I think I could manage to live back in the MW and ski because of that enthusiasm. I enjoy skiing a big mountain but many people take it so seriously it can be like work.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.
