    2019/2020 Midwest Stoke Thread

AxeBiker and I hit Trollhaugen today. They had a big celebration and rope drop at 12 noon for the new terrain. Big sign saying GRAND OPENING.

No pics because I was dumb and left my phone in the car. I think Axe got some photos on his phone.

Temp of +2F at the start, warmed up to +4F by mid afternoon. Took several breaks in the lodge to warm up.

Thanks to naedward81 for the lift ticket! Solid hookup. Singlecross: I have your ticket.

Another great day of skiing with The Mayor. The snow was fantastic and held together very well all day! We could still put down rails late into the day. Also - enjoyed VERY good Reuben for lunch in the bar. The new area has a lot of potential, and really opens up things a bit as well as thinning out any crowds and keeping lift lines manageable.

Sorry I missed you guys today, but the Canyons at Park City wasn’t too bad either!

That new terrain at Trollhaugen is really nice. Probably adds 20 percent increase in size to the area. Maybe even 25 percent more. Nice option to spread people out.

Yeah, I’m actually pretty excited to ski it. Not very often you get new terrain in the Midwest! And who better to keep it in top notch shape than the Troll?

Annual trip to Chestnut going down with the groms. Up to four families this year. Pretty cold and cloudy but still got about 2 hours in for all the kids. Snow guns were full blast all day/night making things extra chilly but there was some fresh enough grain to be found all over the place.

Added bonus was the huge (for the Midwest) snow gun cornice that got built up right over the headwall of warpath. Good sending but landings were hard, for sure.

We’ll be back out there today and it’s supposed to at least be sunny all day.

Sundown WIJARA race last weekend. The girl had two 1sts in GS and a 3rd and 1st in SL. Almost a sweep, she takes a mandatory bump from U14 to U16 for the next race. U16 is stacked, so she'll be back to just trying to podium against some really good skiers, which is awesome.

Snow was really good, and it is always nice to get back to my childhood home ski area. Unfortunately that place is impossible to lap after about 11 am on the weekends. They really need to upgrade the lifts.

Back at Chestnut this weekend, thank god. Sorry I missed the mag visit last weekend The girl vetoed race practice tonight after skiing 7 of the last 9 days, and the wife is laying low with a non covid virus she caught from the boy in Colorado.

    Fuck this warmup.

I tried to post these the other day, but didn't realize my internets is out. I have like 800 mpbs download speed, and .49 upload. LOL. Cable guys came, threw up arms and declared their skills useless, and now they have to send the big trucks out to actually fix it, so I have to upload through my phone for the time being..

    Stoke from the race:

I like beer! That's a fun scene with all the grilling and full parking lots and kid stoke

I'll definitely try to be there

I’m in for Troll today after a 18 hour pull from SoVT yesterday. GPS says 5 more hours so I should be ready to ski at noonish!

We showed visiting maggot Singlecross what midwest skiing is all about. He was grinning ear to ear the whole time. He gets it.

Trollhaugen keeps lifts spinning until 3am on Friday nights with live punk bands playing, and singlecross has a RV so why not get the full benefit of Wisconsin culture? FKNA.

That's incredible, staying open until 3am. "As cool as the other side of the pillow" (Stuart Scott)
