Any more news on the new Tundra motor grenading? Happy 5.7 owner here so not trying to stir things up. More curious if the kinks are worked so in 100k more miles, it could be an option.

I've put several thousand miles on a few rentals with the 3.5. Averaged 19-21 mpg doing 80-85 on western Interstates, zero complaints about power. Can't speak to towing, or long-term maintenance/reliability, obviously. New trucks are really nice, but whether they're $60-fuckin-thousand nice is very debatable.

Ford F150 leaky taillight = 5600 dollar fix. Ouch. I think it says something that a busted taillight now requires an insurance claim to be able to pay for the repair.

New Tundra seems to be getting about 10-15% better mpg. That's doesn't lead to great numbers overall when the old one was getting 15. Tundra math seems to always shake out on resale and lower overall repair costs.

Common issue on our fleet rigs… Going in and out of jobsite wheel washes causes f150 tail lights to literally fill to the brim with water then short out. We drill a small hole in the bottom of the lens to give water a way out.

Do F150s still blow through ball joints, tie rods, and u joints every 40-50k miles? My company at the time had a fleet of 8 f150s and I could tell within 100ft of driving which part was needed. I swore I would never own a ford again.
Fast forward 15 years and I bought an F350 dump truck for my business. 35k on it, needs new U-joints. Fuck ford

Junior was going thru oil on his 2018 3.5 eco-boost so a buddy ( might have been a ford mechanic) told him to go to A certain Ford dealer and request A certain tech

they put dye in the oil and scoped it out that the block had excessive porosity so he got a new block on warranty

did I mention he doesnt trust the truck but is too extended to replace

Pretty sure that's what they are doing. Entity is staying LLC. So far looks like it's gonna save a noticeable amount of loot for 2023 taxes.

Good. You stated you were becoming an s-corp. There is a big distinction there that you should be aware of.

I felt strongly that mine was $48k nice when I got it, but I was coming out of a $3500 Xterra that was about 15 years old and seized up at 217k or so. I would have been happy with $35k nice if I'd found a 4x4 crew cab in that range, but now that I've got heated seats and a heated steering wheel...

The taillight thing is certainly cautionary about all the interconnected electronics, but if you were getting errors related to your rear radar regularly, wouldn't a visual inspection reveal the water intrusion?
(Mine's not that fancy; I've got incandescent tail lights and no radar systems.)

WRG, I might be taking outta my ass, but a realtor friend of mine in MN is looking for a work vehicle. He said something about it having to weigh a certain amount for optimum right off. So he was also looking at larger trucks or SUVs. No idea if that was related to a MN deduction or Fed rules. Just a potential caution on smaller trucks. Double check with the accountant.

A forest green leveled tundra as a homebuyer tour rig is the most Bozeman thing I’ve heard of in a while. Just get an RX like normal realtor. You can still throw the sandwich boards and flag sign in the back…

So much truth. My sister texted me this week and asked if I knew anything about MSU. It was hard to explain it to her.

Probably would never go forest green. My current truck is black aka dirty 24/7 which is not ideal. Considering I have shown and sold land/houses up crazy ass two-tracks "roads" etc I actually need a truck or something with clearance/off road capability.

I'm pretty sure the fed deduction starts at 6,000lbs.

    Edit - Here it is.

An RX with a 2” lift and some chunky rubber then.

That’d be dope. I want one.

Note that it is 6k GVWR, not actual vehicle weight. I think most half tons easily meet the spec, but Google says even a 2023 Ford Ranger sneaks in at 6,050 pounds.

Yeah that's federal. 6000lb min, truck or car, 100% depreciation in the first year for 100% business use. I'm sure there's more complete sources of info, this is the first link w the basics I looked at.
