Alonso! Great driving. What a pass on Sainz.

That pass on Hamilton was just incredible.

Doesn't look like the race for first place will be very exciting any time soon ...

Alonso is a great driver, but he hasn’t been in a good car in a long time. Word is he’s not great at the preseason testing. Dude won 2 championships with peugeot

In our post-truth world it's a stronger point if you believe Peugeot. In any event the point stands that Alonso can drive.

Might be the most interesting interview with an F1 driver I've ever seen.

I’m hoping for an entertaining race. The super cold temps should add some spice. The track layout looks kind of dull. I was considering pulling the trigger on a late trip to Vegas to take in the show. The hotels are dirt cheap but I’m skeptical of the view from the grandstands.

Was in Vegas a few weeks ago for the U2 show and was checking out different grandstand locations. The ones on the strip near TI and Bellagio wouldn’t be bad for seeing a fairly long track segment but you want to be in the upper seats. They let you see over the pedestrian bridges. If you are lower down those will block your view. They built the grandstands into the water at those two locations. Had scuba divers to assemble the under water portions.
We stayed at the Marriott and if I had the same room it would be great viewing. You could see from the turn off of the strip all the up until the brown roof neighborhood section. Basically the bottom section of the map and up the right side posted above. Didn’t have a chance to see the seating by the Sphere.

The track looks like a flying pig, so they say...

With prices dropping, I almost pulled the trigger. Only to find out its a night race, start at 10 fucking pm!

The lack of high speed corners to heat up the tires may turn this into a shit show. I hope not

As someone who was at the tire debacle at Indy many, many years ago, I fully expect this to be a shit show. From what I've seen online about the construction process, the promoters deserve to lose their ass on this one.

The first year, they will lose money

They built a lot of permanent infrastructure

I was down there during SEMA, and the place was a hot mess with the last minute construction. None of the Uber/Lyft/Taxi drivers had anything good to say about the whole thing.

Yeah the couple of drivers I talked to said they weren’t going to bother driving this weekend. Not worth the hassle. Construction on top of all the road resurfacing they had been doing all summer was painful for those folks.
