Yeah it’s a nice neighborhood but the people here are nuts. Locked in at 3%. Not going anywhere unfortunately.

Swat teams? In Utah?? Yeah, this is what happened right on the other side of our building two months ago. Though we missed the fun of being evacuated from our apartment for a whole night, because we were blissfully kayaking Desolation-Gray that week. The TLDR is that cops showed up on a domestic violence call, and Mr. Tough Guy (who I'd assumed was from the local mil base because he always wore a camo outfit, but turns out he just dressed up like that because he's a psycho), completely unrelated to the domestic issue, gets out on his entryway and starts waving a gun around, standing his ground or whatever; after a lengthy standoff, cops shot and injured the guy, carted him off, permanently I guess.

I like our temporary Utah crash-pad, it's super convenient being surrounded by 3 or 4 square miles of shopping malls, and can't complain about being sort of close to skiing. But yeah, WTF.

Yep he got the cuffednstuffed. These guys were like military, someone is going down. We’re literally bullshitting with this cool cop drinking beer and hearing some stories for maybe 10 minutes.
But I’d like to not see them back for a bit.

Bobz, welcome to the crazy. Oh Utah.

Like the stealthy white truck. Nothing to see here folks, we’re just delivering a refrigerator or something.

Is this to show that this dude is not down with Bud Light, and henceforth announce to the world that there are only 2 genders? Am I making the correct assumption here?

If so, what a weird thing to care so much about.

Nothing better than ice cold piss water and a bottle of Makers Mark for camping. Able to hold a nice all day buzz due to the hydration.

Beer snobbery has been replaced by beer activism. Try to keep up, riser

    They were called alley parks.
Cuz they were accessed by an alley
The screenshot i took is of a video from an old street directory so probably everything isnt exact to scale and lacking in some details like where the gaps between buildings are
(I dont live in sactown but my cousin lives in that part of town i think and i was going to screenshot him (which i never did) but the little front yard comment made me post it here )

No Buzzworthy level hijinks, but I thought it was funny the different reactions I got from two neighbors last month when I knocked on their doors and told them I was going to be replacing a fence separating our yards. The first one was downright giddy and said he would help both with the work and financially. If the second guy said more than "okay by me" if wasn't much more, nor did he offer help or money.

#2 happened to me a few years back in UT. A 25' section of ancient fence just folded down into my yard on a windy day. I came home mid afternoon to find my dog cowering on her bed while the neighbor's mutts were pillaging her food and trashing the house. Went out, told the neighbor we needed to fix that shit ASAP. He said "yep" and walked back in. That was the end of the discussion. I was at Home Depot 20 minutes later renting an auger and buying a bunch of cedar, done with the new fence by midnight. Couple weeks later the neighbor asked if he could get some of the old cedar boards. Told him I would sell them for 50% of the price of the new fence. Crickets, which was a good thing cause I had already used whatever was salvageable to make a really nice wine rack. After that I stopped shoveling his sidewalk and mowing past my property line in the joint parking strip. Felt like an asshole stopping at an arbitrary line but I'm not running a charity...

New neighbors just moved in next to Ms Boissal's house. They mentioned wanting to redo something like 150' of fencing in the next couple year. We immediately offered to split cost and labor. The relief was palpable, apparently they had the same conversation with the degens on the other side of their property who told them they wouldn't give them a single $$ cause the fence was still good.

Yeah, it seems like some people regard it like a game of chicken. Whoever decides to replace the falling down fence first gets to pay for it and do the work.

The fence thing was always weird to me. I grew up in neighborhoods with no fences. When I moved to WA every house has a fence.

Dude who was living around the corner moved across town. Ran in to him a couple times around town earlier this month. Nice guy... but. He left a non running, non registered trashed van across the street from my house.. parked the wrong way too. He tried to put a for sale sign on it but gave up. Last week he was out there getting the last of his belongings out of it. I asked him if he would be moving it anytime soon. He assured me it would be gone soon. A week later, this morning I taped a note on it "<name> please move this ASAP thanks". He had it towed today. Mission accomplished.

yeah, but that also means you get to decide where the turrets are installed in which direction they are facing.

I grew up in a small city in Upstate, NY. My block had a common wooded area in the center. We called it "the woods" as a kid and it was the site of many hijinks. It really was a great asset to the kids on the block.
