The majority of people in this thread are saying they're primarily interested in riding regular bikes, not ebikes.

And that lines up with my experience everywhere. I was just in Europe riding bikes. And to be sure, there are huge numbers of gapers pedaling their ebikes around on dirt roads and bike paths. But the percentage of people on ebikes on actual trails is tiny. Like maybe 10%. That was in France, but it was about the same in Finale Ligure a couple years ago.

And just speaking personally, I barely ride my ebike. A buddy who posts on here sold his because he wasn't riding it much. Everyone else I know that owns one rides it much, much less than their regular bike.

So everyone keeps telling me ebikes are gonna take over, but I don't see it. Sure, casual enthusiasts love them, and ebikes will sell well in that segment. But I think there will always be a large contingent of "serious" riders that aren't particularly interested in ebikes.

Sweet , so its not even a problem. Acosttic Karens have their panties in a bunch for a measly 10%. Karenicity is real!!

the price of high end E-mtn bikes is decreasing, definatley something new

the old people are the demographic that can easily just go cha-ching to buy one

the only way this goes away is if dementia hits, they forget they are mtn bikers

That said, I believe EWG is factually wrong re White Rim, ebikes have always been allowed on it because motor vehicles have always been allowed.

It wasn't until Oct 1 2019 that they were allowed. All National Park motorized users are required to only use registered, licensed vehicles. With license plates. That's so they can make sure that people have vehicles that are in proper working order and are properly trained to use them. According to park regs, ebikes counted as motorized vehicles. And you can't get a plate for an ebike.

So until they changed the law at the end of 2019 they were banned, and they enforced it.

just a mild troll, I didn't even mentioned that real problem in America ... is the americans

up here and in the interiour there is social license to ride E-bikes so nobody seems to care

but I am curious what the situ is for the north shore, squamish & whistler ?

how many if any are E-bikes % wise and where are the closures ?

The Americans have their motorized vs mechanized law and whacked out-in-left field outdoor NIMBY crowd with loud voices that want to ban everyone and everything. We Canadians have those too but just not as many and they're more concentrated in Ontario, if my friends who work on trails there are to be listened.

North Shore, Sea to Sky.... doesn't seem to be an issue for trails. Land managers don't seem to care that much. They've got bigger fish to fry and cant even get a handle on unsanctioned trails (imo a good thing). Some trail orgs have had pressure to get more insurance in S Interior BC to accommodate ebikers but not many

Hard to tell with ridership. I see mostly old people on them on trails. Some younger too but still majority on pedal bikes. Covid crash has impacted bike industry so much that maybe it's all tumbling with numbers down generally?

Lord of the Squirrels and alpine trails in Whistler are off-limits to ebikes. Most respect it. The ones who don't either get busted by rangers or Canadian shamed. That seems to work out too

Lots more ebikes on pavement and bike paths and quite a few issues with that but you've heard those all before.

Yeah I ask becuz I havent ridden down there in a lot of years when there were no e-bikes, so I havent ridden south of kamloops in >20 yrs so its interesting to find out how it is now in the birthplace of freeride
