It’s nuts how much I see these going for used. What’s going on?

It is the market in general. Nothing in particular due to the Alltrack. When/if the market shifts the bottom will drop out on these like with all VW's since the beginning of time.

You're not wrong, but this seems to be the reality of the current used car market, especially if you want a MT AWD wagon with a clean title.
Perhaps you have been living under a rock the last few years, but the used car market went completely bananas post-2020 and is only just starting to correct. Also, manuals tend to get premium pricing since there's less supply.
Yes on the seats, JFC... my ass falls asleep about an hour into a drive and I spend the rest of the day fidgeting and driving with weird body angles.
While we've had multiple leaks in the sunroof [and I'm probably too lazy to do the drain cleaning myself] I still really like it and use it a lot when it's sunny. I don't see it as a death sentence for ownership of the car, just something to keep in mind - especially if you're not parking in a covered space.
I think we've decided to hold off on trading ours for an iD4, but man do I still want to cash in on the $20k value while it's still high.... Crazy on a six year old car.
SEL trim is worth it for the seats and adaptive headlights alone. I know because I had an SE Golf SW and the SEL seats in the Alltrack fix everything I disliked about the SE.
Trade in for ID4 has been discussed in our household, that $7500 tax credit is tempting.
No I saw it go completely bananas, I’m just surprised it’s still so bananas especially for the Alltrack. I mean I have one.
40k miles going strong. Maybe a small leak in the sunroof but it’s not much if it is and I rock a roof box. The SEL and driver assistance stuff (especially using OBD11 to turn on lane centering) is so fire for a car I bought for $30k. I paid $1500 to extend the warranty to 10 years/100k miles…we’ll see if it ends up being worth it.
I have an 18 golf sportwagen awd 6MT, honestly I would drive this car for the rest of my life if I could. 130k with just the consumables and routine service. It’s great in snow, great gas mileage, and I find it to be comfortable. I paid 23.5k new and wouldn’t hesitate to do it again.
Agreed the base seats aren't the best. I tried to convince the wife to swap them out for the GTI plaid seats but she wasn't having it.
Update: 459 days after submitting my claim form, and 595 days after VW agreed to a settlement, I received a reimbursement check for the full amount. YMMV
I thought this was pretty good. I was going east and got Starbucks and fuel at the Safeway in Evergreen off of 285 so definitely a boost from rolling downhill and downwind. Had crossbars on the roof which didnt help. Had to stop at York, rolled home on that tank, so just one fill to Moose on the smallish tank.
Cruise set at 80 mph whenever possible, which was mostly.
Yeah, my screen was filthy after a week of camping/rafting/fishing/sleeping in my car some nights. A dirty wagon is a working wagon.

Bump.
Just went in for 60k service; $900 for brake fluid, haldex flush and everything else. Only took 2hrs and seems probably like a bit of a rip off but oh well. How far is everyone going on their original serpentine belt? They suggested replacing because of passing 60k, but said it looks fine, so I'm planning to wait another 10k.
Still no check and no word from the settlement...
Hit 200km on mine….lots of original parts- getting a few electrical gremlins now though-
heater vent actuator, adaptive headlight warning on cold morning…

I need to go to Utah.
Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?
So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....
Thanks BCSAR and POWMOW Ski Patrol for rescues

Only 45k miles on my 2017 S, no complaints. Pads have 6O% left. Import auto specialist did brake fluid / Haldex for $300.
Until a couple of years ago my monthly commute was a 10 hr drive, which I did straight thru other than gas stop. Seats were fine.
My 18 with 85k car lost boost and threw the infamous EPC code on the way to Colorado. Was doing 80 up a hill and had to kill the cruise for traffic. Went back into the throttle and boost was gone. OBDII confirmed showed 299 which is low boost.
Drove to the next exit and got fuel. Restarted and ran perfectly the next 1200 miles till home. Cleared the code when it happened and never got anymore. Back to Iowa with temps hovering around zero no issues, ran stellar.
Wastegate going and new turbo time I guess. It was 17 below zero so could have some time left. Cold tends to bring out the gremlins early.
Fyi if you happen to have a PZEV version, there's an extra long warranty on almost anything related to emissions, including the turbo. Got my 2015's turbo replaced for free even though it was outside the powertrain warranty (and also I bought used, not even CPO).

Eh, if it only happened that one time (especially if you were going to a hill at altitude in the cold), I wouldn’t read too much into it. Sounds more like sensors caught some funny readings and threw it into limp mode just in case.
Happened to my GTI (very similar engine) 4 years ago, went away when I restarted, and has never happened again.
