I will say that what may be more disappointing to NY sports fans this year would be if Ohtani beats Judge’s AL HR record.

More than the Mets performance, Knicks and Nets seasons, Rangers season, Jets and Giants in general… I feel bad for them.

I really don't know where people pull this kind of shit out from. No one is going to be sad at all if one of the greatest players of all time breaks the AL or MLB record. Maybe they'd be annoyed if Ohtani got close to Bonds and didn't finish the job. I would be. And of course I could show you exactly this sentiment on Yankees twitter but I couldn't find the opposite.

Is this a Steven A. Smith impression or did he say something really stupid for clicks in the last few days?

It is absolutely a product of the four letter network. Whatever morning show they have where they all yell over eachother's hot takes was on in the lobby today and the sentiment was that Yankees fans are already pissed over the season so far and seeing their guy's record broken a year later will only salt that wound.

A fan fell flat on his face at the finish line racing The Freeze at the Bravos game today. Brutal.
