Quick one: Would it be crazy to try to run hawx XTD 130 on the FR110? Or am I going to need to buy new boots too?

Edit: I find the XTDs are ok for my old Faction Dictator 3, Kastle FX 95HP, and Noctas, but those are all lighter skis. I remember the boots not necessarily having quite enough beef for the old Salomon Rocker2 122 (I always attributed to ski weight), but maybe was skier error?

Haha; the FL113 is will be the stiffest ski in the line. The FL105 will be about 10% softer. The FR110 about 10% softer than that. still an 8 of 10 or so. But not a full gas ski

The FR110 should be just fine with the XTD imo. Especially
if they fit

I see absolutely no problem using that setup. While the layup would be about the same between the FR110 and FL113, the flex, shape and camber profile are definitely not, the 110s are more forgiving (as we drew them), so no need for a plug or semi race boot there.

Unsure about which length of the BC 90 to go for. Planning on getting it as a volcano/big mission ski and am somewhat worried about the 184 being too much for tight spaces and the 177 being a bit under gunned. Will be pairing with Dalbello quantum asolo frees. I'm 6', 180ish and currently on some 175 Ova freebirds in that slot. Any recs?

I think you could ski both.

here are my pluses and minuses.
(1) the 177 will navigate switchbacks a little easier
(2) the 177 will be more nimble in tight chutes and trees
(3) the 177 will weight close to 100g less per ski
(4) the 184 will have a little higher top end and naturally prefer larger turns

based on the 175 ova, I’d say go for the 177 as it will be both quicker and surfier for sure

No, it's designed for touring boots. More like an 8 as well. And of course they are 750g lighter!

The BC110, C113, C105 are going to be pretty similar stiffness wise, but still pretty different skis on snow due to their geometry.

Last day pre order free shipping bump. Have been on the fence after getting some woodsman tour 110’s as well. But it’s going to be a bc110 shootout.

Ended up pre-ordering the 177. Bonus is my GF rips (and has the same boot size) and is more likely to be able to use the 177 for volcano duty if it comes to that. I've got other skis for when I want to open it up and the bonuses in tighter terrain outweigh the tradeoffs.

Now over to my shameless plug for a ski I consider to be pretty unique, and I'd love to see something similar.....enter Volkl One.

On the one hand:
- reverse camber
- a fair bit (but very subtle) taper
- medium flex

On the other hand:
- longish sidecut
- traditional mount point
- a lay-up I was certain had some metal in it - but today googleing tells me it had not
- and it had some weight to it

It skied a bit short though, and could have slightly more float - but except from that, great inbounds ski.

What I'd like to see; the same characteristics in a 188-190 actual length, perhaps just a tiny bit closer to 120 underfoot and similar proportions elsewhere.

I'd be interested. I never skied the one or the two, but they always looked attractive to me. I'd love a 118-ish, full reverse camber (flat under foot) ski. Floaty and smeary for the first two laps of the day when things are actually fresh. And then enough weight, stiffness, and dampness to smash through chop for the rest of the day. In the same neighborhood as a Blackops 118, but no camber, and a mount point a little further back (-7 or so).

Pretty similar to what I'm hoping the FR110 will be, with just a bit more emphasis on deeper, fresher snow.

The volkl 3's are the most fun i have ever had on skis... trying to replace that with my new fr132's but 6 days and counting that every road to a ski resort in California has been closed. I ordered the fr110 because i am a believer in the HL freeride construction after riding fl113's and devastators are some of the other funnest skis I have ever been on (but hands down the worst built). Volkl's older full reverse camber, big radius, stiff flex, rear mount pow skis are the truth

The volkl 1 (and bash 116) is a great ski, but I agree with you it doesn't float as well as it should. Super good in the chop though!

Volkl One is a great ski. It plows a little more in powder than other reverse camber designs but it’s surprisingly versatile and capable in a variety of conditions as long as you actively ski them and don’t let the bases wander around. I think they float pretty good. I love them in spring corn. I like them mounted ~+3-4 cm forward of recommended, around -6cm from center.

Sounds good to me. I was also happy to see some recent murmers of a BMT 122 type ski from HL in one of the threads.
I remember seeing Ones, Twos, or Threes on clearance years back. Didn't buy them, having a big year here. Haven't been impressed with the trend of lighter and tighter skis....long story short I have thought it'd be cool if skis like those were available again.
Enter HL and so many cool skis are coming back.
Loving the stoke everyone's sharing.

Yessir! They should arrive to me by next weekend.

regarding the top sheet art, I have a buddy of mine make a bunch of designs, then have my daughters (9&11) help choose which designs go on what skis . It’s pretty fun.
