Yeah. Comp skis need to be driven.

Like I tell my kids. Every ski has a personality.
Feel what the ski wants when you demo.
If you don’t like that style it’s not your ski.

Chargers need to be bitch slapped and ridden hard. You tell them what to do and it’s awesome.
I’ve had several chargers that changed my game.
Super nobis and legend pro started that transformation

If you take a comp skier and put them on a noodle. They need to dial back and feel what the ski wants.

But there is a middle ground. Old man charger might be the name.

Circling back to the fr110 the lack of camber with some FR stiffness sounds awesome. I’ve had stiff skis with camber and if you don’t load them in every turn it’s a bucking bronco. Same with way too light DPS carbon.

Heading back to the lift should be relaxing after snacking the good fresh shit in the woods.

    let me do this…

the rest FR110 are coming to me fairly soon. I plan to mount my pair back of the line. Approx -2cm from waist; so -8cm overall, for the exact reasons you describe.

and I’ll just share my honest opinion! And of course anyone in SLC who go wants to borrow the skis
If I make it to Utah this season I will try and find a way to link up for some turns. A/B the Sickle and the FR110 ya know

    Helpful!

I used a 186 EHP (mounted -2 due to "big guy" status) in this slot for a number of years. It was awesome, but a bit wide and not enough sidecut to be perfect on groomed (it was of course amazing everywhere else). I want that, but better at basically everything out of the FR110. That is what we are looking for here. The Family man charger.

    ^ looking forward to it

An r87 for groom zoom and a Fr110 for everything else should suit this minimalist van skier just fine.

Will you be getting some proto’s/test skis of the BC110 to ski before you pull the trigger on final design?

Checks a lot of boxes. I like it!

Awesome. I’m trying to move on from V-Werks Katanas that I have finally decided are too heavy. Not enjoying much the lighter offering’s I have found. Hoping the solid build combo with the VDS and the requirement that it will suit a skier that actually pushes skis will produce the golden ticket.

You bet man, I’ll post firm details as soon as I can! I think a -2 mount on this ski will serve that purpose pretty dang well

I would just expand on this a little:

    (1) For all mountain reverse skis, they do best (IMO) with a proper radius to the reverse profile
    (2) The radius should be no smaller than the radius of the sidecut
    (3) Opening the radius further than the sidecut radius actually helps engage all the way through the tip/tail widepoints a little better
    (4) It's really important for a reverse all mountain ski to be heavy enough, as they bounce around alot more than a cambered ski when light

It's also really important for a reverse all mountain ski to be stiff enough (since its bent into a shape already) but not too stiff (since there isn't camber to suspend the ends of the ski). And this is where having a reverse radius that is actually a little bigger than the sidecut radius is helpful, to tune the flex pattern and give a little more suspension when you need it, but still keep the carve/drift/slash feeling.
Pheeeew, been reading through this whole damn thread, it is a fuckin lot of reading, but I still don’t have a good idea of what “FR flex” (yes I read that in this thread) equates to? I love everything you’ve said about this ski, specs look perfect and, I reeeaaally want. But do you have any sort of comparison or better explanation of the stiffness? Personally I think this ski in a Praxis 4+ to 5 + would be pretty money, these need to be pretty stiff in my experience, but I really understand not making them “too” stiff as well. Just looking for a little more context I guess. Please and thanks

Right on! Big thread to dive into at this point, man. Thank you for soldering in.

So, "Freeride" is really the construction. Bamboo and poplar core, Fiberglass Laminates, and full width VDS rubber. For me, personally, this is the ultimate build. Very smooth overall, more on the lively end of the spectrum, and quite planted at speed on edge.

Both the FR and FL skis share this construction. The FR132 for example is slightly rounder (meaning a little softer underfoot) as it is meant to slide on firm snow rather than carve. The FL113 has a stiffer shovel to blow up chop and a slightly softer tail, so it's will remind you of getting lazy rather than punish you.

The new skis, the FR110 and FL105 are both going to be a touch less stiff than the FL113. There are a few test skis coming to me to nail the flex on each on the snow this spring, and a good few trusted friends to help with that.

To simplify, I am thinking about them in the following way:
    FL113 a 9-9.5 of 10 stiffness (~5 Praxis)
    FL105 a 8.5 of 10 stiffness (~4.5 Praxis)
    FR110 an 8 of 10 stiffness (~4 Praxis)

Hey Marshal, do any of the skis have enough orders yet to be locked in?

yes indeed! I have already bought all the new molds, so every ski with at least 1 order is being made. Stoked on that!

I would add that I was just informed that final number for “early ship” aka Fall ‘23 delivery need to be in Feb 28.

Unsure about which length of the BC 90 to go for. Planning on getting it as a volcano/big mission ski and am somewhat worried about the 184 being too much for tight spaces and the 177 being a bit under gunned. Will be pairing with Dalbello quantum asolo frees. I'm 6', 180ish and currently on some 175 Ova freebirds in that slot. Any recs?

If we are able to rustle up enough support to press longer FR110's I would love to swap for the bigger sticks!

I'd lean 177. I'm about your same size and ski the 180 Ova FB. That length is nice for skiing groomers when i skin at the resort, but I kinda wish i'd gone 175. I feel like a bit more capable and substantial ski, the BC90, a 177 would be perfect for big days and volcanos.

Thanks! Ordered 192s, flinched, emailed Marshal, and he talked me off the ledge. I’m pretty successful at avoiding bumps on BComb, and if it hasn’t snowed in long enough that they’re unavoidable, the avy danger is usually low enough for this Jerry to head out the gate, so sticking with the longer length. No doubt the 185s could find a place in my quiver too with slightly different priorities (or more money. Approaching 10 days on my 194 FL113s and they’re already in the conversation for fav ski of my time on earth; can’t imagine what a good skier could do with em. Will report back in the Fall if I don’t die.

Just ordered FR110’s. I’ve read the whole thread and it’s still a little confusing to me, but what would be a ski available right now that I could demo that would be the most similar to an FR 110?
Well maybe I'm the faggot America
