I heard between a WC108 and a C108... That said, I rode up next to a guy on some protos and the shape looked very DW. That and a 190cm pair was seen on a movie date with Kim Kardashian at the Grove in Hollywood last weekend.

    Moment Skis Discussion

I’ve skied the 182 C tour about 15-20 days in the BC this winter for my guide job at our yurt in Montana.

IMO, they handle everything well, except for very tight, steep trees.

The longer turn radius is noticeable in tighter noodling situations, but most of the time I’m quite happy with this ski.

I’ve been driving them with a Dynafit Radical Pro and Superlite bindings.

I’m 6’ and 210lbs with gear. Usually ski a 188 or 190cm ski, but the 182 commander has nearly the same effective edge as larger, more heavily rockered skis.

I’ve paired them with Pomoca skins and they don’t feel heavy. Not sure I’d want to go much lighter unless it was a long traverse type situation.

I’m full of strong-held baseless opinions. Was at -2 on 188s (6’2/195/like trad mounts) and happy there; no tip dive and all around great, except can’t carve em from there, feels like I’m behind the waist, but likely a technique issue. If I sized up to 194 I’d bump em to rec (conjecture. Enjoy em man!

Super helpful. I’ve been eyeing putting some Helio 200’s on a pair. Using Hoji Frees as the main boots but trying the Skorpius as well.

I’m 6’2” but only like 165lbs so the 182 sounds like the play for this application.

    Thanks!

    Moment Skis Discussion

I got a chance to ski the new skis today, a friend here in UT is affiliated with Moment and had a 182 with demo binders. I own a 190 WC and 190 DW104, both mounted on the line, owned and liked 185 Cochise but have been on the hunt for something to replace it, and went far opposite end of the spectrum with the 190DW104.

I had two runs on them at Alta, did a ballroom to groomer the a low gate backside to glitch and glitch to the whippies today.

This ski is great. It’s got the DW104 core, deeper tip rocker, and some tail rise. More than commander less than wc/dw. Easy turn initiation, much lighter than a C108. Friend had both in 182, and the new ski, known as the countach is softer than the C108. I think it’s softer than my wildcats, at least in the tip. Mount point is -8, compared to the commander -10 and WC/DW -6. I think I could get along really well with this in whatever the longer size will be, 182 is just a hair short for me. Didn’t feel quite as poppy as my dw and wildcats do, but, only got two runs.

I’ve been on WC 108’s as my go to for the past 4 years or however long ago they first came out. Anyway, took out my new Commander 98’s this morning and found them way less demanding than I expected. Definitely a higher speed limit but very intuitive and versatile skis. I’m a fan.

First day on my 188 Commander 108s as well and agree with what you said about the 98s. Not nearly as demanding as I expected. Unfortunately it was a groomer/dust on crust kind of day, but these were the best carving 105mm+ skis I've ever been on. Lean into the boot and they take off like a rocket. Was getting over 60mph regularly and easily while staying composed. Not as damp as an LP or QLab, but felt great. As I said to Bandit Man, these are the spiritual successor of the QLab. Looking forward to getting them out in better snow later this week. Also looking at the Commander 98 to fill the narrower slot in the quiver.

Sylvan - maybe a baseless opinion but the excellent intel. What you're saying makes perfect sense and was exactly the info I was looking for. I've already got them marked out at -1 so think I'll go with that and see what happens from there.

Saw a pair of C98’s in lift line at Elk here in NEPA this am. Only other pair of Moments I’ve seen here locally between me and a kid that worked in my shop last year that got Frankenskis for his park skis.

Talked in lift…he seemed happy with versatility of the C98.

Lapped the chutes at Mt Rose today on my 188 C98s in some questionable snow. Really starting to trust these guys all over the hill on firm variable.

An FYI- Uphill Pursuits in Bozeman has DWT in I believe 174, 179, 184 and I think a full size run of WCT. They are currently 30% off and I believe 1/2 off on Friday. Have some of the women’s models also. No affiliation, just know the collective loves a bargain!

I generally believe these sort of deals should go to local mags, but in case anyone in Bozeman was swinging by on Friday and saw a 184 DWT on sale…I’d be super appreciative and would compensate you nicely for shipping them to California.

This is the season I’ve truly fallen in love with the 184 DW. I’m skiing them every day inbounds expect for deep pow and they’ve eliminated every ski in my quiver except the Billy Goat (for said deep pow, although the Deathwish are pretty good pow skis too). The versatility of being able to stand up straight, ski balanced and slide around in trees/bumps or put them up on edge and charge through anything except the most firm of crud is incredible. I feel like I’m skiing faster on them than heavier, damper skis because of the confidence I have to be able to slide the ski and shut down speed if needed.

Looks like the new moment ski the Countach 110. Blister has a flash review but I can’t read it.

Anyone who has access… a summary of what the shape is like would be interesting.

Mix between WC 108 and Commander 108

Blister Luke says they remind him of original C108 maneuverability but more stable at speed

see a few posts up. Skied the 182's for 2 runs at Alta Saturday. the ski is very intuitive. -8 mount vs. WC -6 and CMD at -10, more tail rocker than commander, more tip rocker than wildcat, deathwish core.

They didn't really say anything that hasn't been said before. Rocker, tail and mount all split the difference between Wildcat and Commander.

It's weird seeing a Moment ski with this much taper though...

    Thread drift....

I know Moment sold a run of Meridians this year. Any chance a run of Meridian Tours will return?? I'd love to try a pair of 187s. Paging Melee...

No plans for a Meridian Tour remake this year.

Alas, it sold before I got to it. Pretty good deal too.

Looks like I'm gonna try a WNDR Intention RC.

No access, but Blister wrote this in their 23/24 round up:
The Countach 110 fills the gap between Moment’s Wildcat and Commander series. The Countach 110 doesn’t have nearly as much tail splay as the Wildcat, but it has deeper rocker lines than the Commander skis. Similarly, the Countach 110’s recommended mount point of -8 cm from center splits the difference between the Wildcat (-6) and Commander (-10). While the Countach 110 doesn’t feature the metal layers of the Commanders, it does use their heavier poplar / beech wood core, and is designed to be a bit more damp and stable than the Wildcat 108, but more maneuverable and forgiving than the Commander 108

A bit weird that this info originates first at Blister and not in this thread, but whatever.

For anyone East of the Mississippi curious about all things Moment, Fire On The Mountain in Dover, NH has been selling Moment's for a couple of seasons so far. They have demos of the following models: Deathwish 104, Wildcat 101 and Commander 98. Not a lot of options in the East to check these out in person so wanted to pass this along. They also stock Wildcat and Deathwish Tour models and Hot Mess and Bella Tour for the ladies. Of course, plenty of binding options to go with the skis from Pivots to ATK. Give a call and get set up today for a test run. Snow is finally coming to the East!

Just call them, pretty sure they’ll ship.
