Is the McCall-cascade valley already blown out? Just looked at it on some maps and it seemed promising. Lakes and skiing and mountains.

Check the housing prices on Zillow and you shall have your answer.

Hah, I like the house that went from 1.1 to 3.5 mil in 2 years and hasn’t been updated since the 70s. WOW.

I give up. I can’t fathom how people have so much money. I even make a decent amount of money and anything over 400k just seems insane. It really sucks that my wife likes water shit and I like skiing. It’s literally impossible to find somewhere affordable with both.

My friends just moved to the Flathead valley and live in a gated community with a private water ski lake. Maybe look there

Totally normal people, per the Unicorn:

lots go for 400k, homes for 1 mil. Don't forget the HOA dues.

Montana's median household income is 60k a year. This is where those regular folks live right? In gated water ski communities outside of major ski areas.

I can't even afford to check the houses on Zillow. Need to cut back on those $$$ avocado toasts.

I have no right to complain. I live somewhere awesome! I just get my quarterly depression from checking Zillow every few months. I can’t imagine how easy it must have been back in the day to get a small place in an up and coming mountain town (like a small town called aspen) and then make millions of dollars doing nothing except owning property. Growing up everyone’s families had small cabins all over the place through Vermont and New Hampshire since they got them 500 years ago.

Fuck it would be nice. I have also never lived in a proper ski town so I’m not even sure if it’s my jam. I’d love to try it out.

If anyone wants to house swap for a winter to Helena let me know. My wife and I are finally on the fully remote bandwagon (I guess we’re the assholes)

Unless you are truly obsessed with waterskiing (and waterskiing only) I can't imagine wanting to live there.

Bland flat location with no trees, expensive, and you get to wake up every morning to the sound of loud boats (and probably music too). HOA dues on those listings ($100/mo) can't be anywhere close to right as that must cost $$$ to maintain. Oh yeah, and you're right in the flight path of the airport too.

Not surprised most of the lots aren't built out...

Why would anyone obsessed with water skiing move to Montana? That doesn't make any sense to me.

I love Helena. It's on the short list of the next places to become unaffordable; you've already found it.

Rent it out for 6mo and go to Italy. I'm not kidding. You'll probably want to check with your employers first.
