This is true. I was looking at big chunks of property up there 3-4 years ago on the cheap cheap. Prices have gone way up.

People who have never been to Michigan's U.P. probably don't realize quite how empty it is. The U.P. has about 29% of Michigan's total land area but just 3% of the total population. There's only about 300,000 people in the entire U.P. I suppose compared to states like Wyoming and Montana it's more densely populated overall, but for the eastern half of the U.S. it's about as sparse as it gets.

They picked Red Lodge, MT. as the place to be. I kinda thought Red Lodge would be just another National Park gateway town, but bigger.

Some people, like altaslob, just don’t belong outside a major metro. I have too many friends to count that live in Leavenworth and love it, will never leave. I feel the same about this valley, I’m here to stay. For me there’s no greener grass.

jesus christ are we going to get 10 pages of shit

if someone needs to ask the internet for a place thats total fucking cool to live in then maybe that person should just stay where they are lock the doors and jerk off to the internet

lucky for me breckenridge picked me I didn't pick breckenridge thats for sure
if you have a half hard dick you can figure out pretty easily where the next great place is gonna be
for sure it's not going to have a neon sign an applebees or shit loads of gapers and kids dressing in neon one pieces cause they think they are retro or the best groomers in the world with a special noontime groom of your favorite blue run
I know exactly where the next best place is and I plan on moving there soon as soon as this town is fully played out oh wait that happened ten years ago nevermind

Community’s become whatever people make them, but it’s the process of and commitment to the making that generates deep connection and belonging, not the outcome. You can’t buy into what really matters.

Ya, well in 20 years when your Leavenworth friends' kids figure out they can no longer to afford to live in Leavenworth because too many people like Red7 moved there, they will be bitching on whining on TGR about where the next great place is.

I like Wenatchee because while the outdoor stuff is good, it's just shitty enough to keep it from becoming Bend. The key is to find those places that are just shitty enough to scare people away. It's all about the B list.

And I'm just about fed up with Montana because of all the "undesirables" (conservatives from liberal states) that have moved in. Red lodge is cool town though and I wish they got more consistent snow.

Jfc. The last time MT went dem was Clinton’s first term. Didn’t want his second.
    Before that it was LBJ.

Before that you’re talking truman and Roosevelt. Depression era shit.

It’s always been a mostly red state.
They even voted Nixon over Kennedy. And then ford over carter.

End polyass rant. But facts are facts.

Not going to get into how Montana elected 2 D governors and Jon Tester.

Simply put, Montana Ds are not your garden variety Ds, they are generally Moderate politicians who can cross an aisle. Unfortunately that seems to be changing.

Tons, but they come with exorbitant prices. I won't sell my shitty house on an acre until I know where the next Grail resides or for a 1 million dollar cash offer.

Not to drag this out any further but we've had a democratic senator since 2007, and we had a democratic governor from 2005-2020. You don't know montana's polyass so stay in your lane.

I moved to the “C” list. And still Bozeman money is influencing our dusty ranch town. I don’t think B-list is far enough along the alphabet these days.

The opposite point is all you crunchy granola liberals from CA OR and WA moved in and flipped the state. Just like Colorado.

    But anyways. End drift.

I’n fact it’s people moving into all these fun ski mountain towns that created the reason for trolling question threads like this one.

    Same thing.

    I'm not from here
But people tell me it's not like it used to be
They say I should've been here back about ten years
Before it got ruined by folks like me

    We can't help it
    We just keep moving
It's been that way since long ago
Since the Stone Age, chasing the great herds
We mostly go where we have to go

    Onto some bright future somewhere
Down the road to points unknown
Sending post cards when we get there
Wherever it is they think we'll go

OP - Warner Canyon, in someday-will-be-Idaho, is another undiscovered gem.

Did I mention the County has voted to secede from OR?
