Spinner question: Just mounted up a pair of ski for my lovely wife (love the jigarex, so easy). Ended up with one spinner. Front right toe hole on a Look SPX12. Said lovely wife is small and very light and only runs bindings at about 5.5 DIN. Screw is wood glued in place.
Do I just leave it? Or do I fix it? And if I fix it, how do I fix it.
you could get it heli-coiled or buy a heli-coil kit
If it were me I would cram some 2 part epoxy (not wood glue) with a filler so I like chopped up FG strands, some people like tooth picks or steel wool
run the screw in until its just about to spin, leave the epoxy to cure for a day or 2
tighten it down and if it doesnt spin
you fixed it

2 part epoxy and a 2 toothpick wedges. Screw it until it’s almost tight, let the epoxy set to do it’s job.
Never look back.
Thanks all. Took it out, added a couple flat toothpicks and some g flex, tightened it down. Gripped very well.
Good stuff.
I think when i first suggested this hack people figured I had huffed too much tolulene and anyone who did it would die

How close can holes be to each other? I'm likely sizing down boots from 306 to 294 and looks like I'll need re-mounting on all 3 of my alpine skis with pivots. Am I right in thinking that I'll just be able to move the heel in and not even see the holes?
You may have the heel travel (micro-adjust) to avoid remount.
Otherwise 1cm (edge to edge) hole spacing will be fine. Some here use wooden dowels to fill old holes to provide more structural support for tight spacing than plastic plugs will.
You can move toes back 1cm and be 1cm behind the line or heels up 1cm and be 1cm ahead. One or the other may make more sense depending on the ski/your skiing style. Assuming your 306mm mounts are on the line.
Or dowel and move each .5 cm and stay on the line. Lots of info here on dowel use alternatives.

What would Bobby do?
Mounted my own skis 2x today with paper mounts, and the Kores turned out awesome. But:
On a pair of Volkl Blazes, I was reusing 2/4 of the toe holes to move from Griffons to Griffon Demos. I re-used the top two holes, and drilled the lower holes, but must have wound up ~1 or 2mm off. With a bit of a sideways push on the plate, I can get all four screws in - is that too much cross pressure on the plate?
Searched for it, am sure it's been asked, but couldn't find.
My buddy is dropping off some skis and bindings to be mounted for his wife's Christmas present.
They are Salomon Stage Gripwalk 11.
What pattern/template do they have?
fucking up a mount is never fun. That said, if you are going to fuck up a mount, fuck up demo binding mounts. Just plug the holes and you are no worse off than before. You can move the mount around on the skis and still acheive the midsole location you wanted to begin with because the binding moves- something not possible with non-demo bindings.
Grab another beer and try again tomorrow. Just do better this time.
