^We have those too. In the middle of the two highways they put Verizon stores and the occasional Long John Silvers. If you don't want to wait for the actual turnaround you just bust a move thru the Long John Silvers lot. Lots of different options available to make a left in NJ.

Yeah Bmills except the ones I've seen in Jersey you have to exit to the right, then it loops back. They go all the way around so you enter the other side from the right. Uses a lot of space and asphalt for sure.
Wasn't aware of the Long John Silvers workaround. Noted.
I use the same 191 bunion mentioned. Pretty much have to use the suicide ln parts of the day or you'll be waiting 10min plus for a 2 way gap to pull out.
The big sky traffic is something to behold.
I guess the fish at Ted's is pretty special.

Those are all over any new highway and/or overpass construction in ATL. They work well but are a little offputting when you come over the slight rise and you're staring 4 lanes of oncoming traffic in your face before you realize they're stopped.
The extra fun ones have a traffic roundabout just before or just after them.
I still call it The Jake.
Growing up in Detroit where there were few if any left turn lanes to turn into I learned from my dad that to make a left from our street onto busy 7 Mile Road you pull halfway across the road when there is a break in traffic from the left and then wait for a break in traffic from the right to finish the turn. I used that one in Reno the other day where there was gridlocked traffic due to an accident or police action on a main street--I don't know which. I pissed the hell out of a lot of people. Little did those folks know that they were in a hurry to get to an intersection where the cops were turning people around.
Detroit also had a lot of busy intersections where there were no left turns during rush hour. You had to drive a block past the intersection and make 3 rights to make a left. Or you could do what my mother did--make 4 rights because you decided you didn't want to make a left after all.
Turns out in Truckee the cops don't like you driving for 200 yds the wrong way on the left shoulder to get to the lumber yard (old location) when traffic is backed up going into downtown. I told the cop I didn't realize the lumber yard was so far. He said, c'mon, you're a local, you know better. Which is the nicest thing anyone ever said to me in Truckee. And I got away with a warning.
In Truckee the way you make a left from a side street onto Donner Pass Rd is to wait for a car coming from the right with no one behind them and then pull out in front of them with just enough time for the other car to slam on the brakes, then you drive as slow as possible while you finish your conversation.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

That Washington law is what I thought was correct usage in New England, as well. I'm too lazy to Google it right now, but I was under the impression that it was reasonable to travel in it before or after your left turn so you could then get back into the travel lane. I'll try to remember to look that up before the next time I go somewhere that has one.
I've also heard them called suicide lanes, which seems appropriate if you're using it as a regular travel or passing lane.
Editing to add: and when I hit reply, I assumed the thread had moved to another subject after a few posts, not continued on center turn lanes for most of three pages. Would not have guessed.

No, that's farther upstream.
I'm not familiar with Dinner Thyme, but looks like it has good reviews. One person was obviously unhappy though, but doesn't mention why.

Yeah, he/she/ze gave the McDonalds down the street a scathing review as well. Some people are just miserable pricks.
