    A buddy across the state has the same symptoms as me almost to a T. He’s never tested positive for Covid/Omicron and started treating it as a neck alignment issue and going to the Chiropractor without much success.

    Vibes to those that are dealing with similar or worse.
    Vibes.

    How would you describe how dis-equilibrium and brain fog feel? Wondering if I have some of this, even though I never had symptoms or tested positive but was around others who did (but had a mask on, so maybe I lucked out).

    Yeah, I knew you were just trying to scare me, but I don't scare that easy.
    Piece in the Sac Bee today (not really worth trying to get by the paywall) about Placer County, which has been very vocal at the Supervisor/Sherriff level about not enforcing any state mandates and where some businesses have been flaunting them. The county statistics are better than state average as far as cases and vaccinations. The point being that demographics matter--Placer is more educated and whiter than most (although not as white as Nevada County which is the whitest in the state), and that even in places that seem to be vocal anti mask, anti vax, anti mandate most people comply voluntarily. If complying people go to the store and no one is wearing a mask they stay home If a reporter goes to a bar and does interviews they're not going to be talking to a lot of people who wear masks and practice distancing. The deniers get all the attention.

    I don't think govt mandates make much difference, except for vaccine mandates where the SCOTUS will allow them. What peoplee do voluntarily matters--a lot. And a lot of govt mandates haven't made sense, at least around here. Telling people they can't travel out of the county, closing state parks.

    The availability of N95's makes a lot of difference--people who need, or feel they need more protection, have an option besides staying home, although masks don't help much in restaurants and bars.

    So on one side the anti vax folks are whatabouting the deer population COVID epidemic. I was looking at some local fish and wildlife piece that says that the deer here are also spreading/getting COVID.. So what does that do to the argument that we're safe outside in the wind without masks??? Pretty sure that proves that COVID does spread outdoors when folks (or deer) aren't masked.

    You are better than this, sjg -

    information like this has been available since November ( studies performed on a captive herd and tissue samples from Iowa - the work done at Penn State ) ;

    I still believe the cervid (deer) coronavirus is genetically Different from the covid virus in humans.
    ( I believe there is more to a virus than 76 identified genomes
    ( I believe the last article referenced said the viruses were 'similar' or some other adverb/adjective that distanced any deer/human association ))

    What are the clinical signs in deer (?)
    ( where are the herds of dead deer from covid )

    If the people who are working with the captive herd that are testing Positive are not being infected by the deer. . .

    the references are up-thread -
    I don't maintain a reference index to re-cite them here.

    I'm not-sure what the goal of the people promoting this is -
    deer hunting has waned in the upper midwest over the last several years ;
    perhaps some believe this will promote hunting
    ( Maybe this is a 'gun rights' tangent )

    vaccinating wild deer would not be like giving oral rabies vaccine to urban raccoons or coyotes.

    I trust your comment about masking deer is intended to be irony ( or what passes for sarcasm these days. . . )

    8600 people dying weekly with covid is not 'pandemic - Over' to me.

    good luck... skiJ

    Proves nothing. We don't know how covid spreads in deer, how contagious it is in deer. We do know that deer spend time in close physical contact with each other. That's how little deer get made. If you're worried about it I'd back off fucking deer for a while--plus getting kicked in the nuts by a deer's sharp little hooves probably hurts a lot.

    I'm not worried.. I always wear an N95 mask when fucking deer. It's the dumbfucks who don't wear masks in the lift corral or sitting shoulder to shoulder on the lift without masks when positive rates are high locally that should be ore worried.

    Thankfully those rates are dropping now.

    I'm not wearing a mask on the lifts or in the corrals. I can't say I'm worried. If you are you should be good with an N95, or staying home.

    Well to be fair, only mask up outdoors in actual crowds or sharing air space up close for more than a few minutes.

    Deer aren't vaxxed. I have no idea how bad COVID is for them but being healthy and vaxxed. I'm willing to take a few risks I definitely wouldn't before vaxxed..

    Ugly deer are probably clean so I’d feel safe with the butter faced deer.

    It’s the hot ones to avoid, they get around.

    OK, quick question. Have you managed to break your handshaking habit?
    I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

    was deltacron already mentioned here? i bet the fear mongers already posted, it so i am late.
    the link doesn't work. In the last week I read an article in either WAPO or NYT that the deltacron variant is a nothing burger. It's basically omicron with some delta proteins in the non-spike portion of the virus that don't affect transmissibility, virulence, or vaccine effectiveness. This is different than omicron BA.2 which is still causing some concern.

    Yes, when someone reaches their hand out, I assume they want me to pull their finger. I’m not falling for it. My uncles trained me well as a kid… Man, their Genesee and Narragansett farts STANK!
