Totally agree. I think he had to make an announcement since everyone else is, but making it effective a month from now isn't going to go over real well.

Covid is never going to be "over". It's part of life now, like the flu and the common cold.

It's so not over, just like hurricanes are never over.

    Can we control it? https://www.theatlantic.com/science/...ndemic/622843/

Totally situational. Doesn’t seems odd in Utah here. It’s been over for a long time already it seems like.

When I was in Seattle 2 weeks ago it was a whole different world. One that made much more sense to me. But again, I’m just a sheep.

An extreme analogy for sure, the concept is sound and would be challenging.

Masks at level one, vax verification at level two etc. or whatever. And we’ll have the same resistance battle with the folks who would handily put the hurricane protection on their house but won’t wear a fucking mask.

Hopefully multi variant boosters or whatever that tech is.

It was over in early July... until a minute later.. NC governor has announced that he'll announce the end of mask recommendations very soon. Most counties have jumped on that to end the public space mandates. Schools will hang on awhile longer and school buses and other public transportation will keep asks mandated for awhile longer.

Any beta on the major airlines? I haven't hear a single whisper about that yet.. other than "transportation"..

for the poster who claimed the pandemic would be over the end of February -

    65,000 cases the week ending February 25, 2022 ;

1,754 deaths the week ending February 25, 2022.

I get it - we are going back to the behaviors of 2019 - stadiums and areas and gymnasiums and concert venues full of people, elbow-to-elbow... lift line mazes full of people, elbow-to-elbow.

    Please watch-out for future variants.

Five million dead world-wide is nothing to be proud of.

Good luck. (we're going to need it)

Fucking grocery store today. Half the employees not wearing masks. 20% of customers masked. All the shift supervisors were maskless, no manager around, I couldn't go all Karen. Le Sigh. I guess I have to do curbside again. Or figure out how to take time off from work so I can shop at 9am on a weekday.

I guess you've been nowhere near a ski lodge this season... Pretty much everywhere 30 miles away from a major university here has dropped mask mandates for about a year now. My town still has them, but still plenty of yahoos who pitch a fit about being told to comply.. I just wear a GOOD mask and let Darwin sort out the rest..

But, as soon as the local hospitals have plenty of open ICU beds and vents I'm dropping the mask for shopping stuff. Will still wear one for longer exposures to non family folks in tighter spaces though. I don't think I'll ever be totally over masking up when shoulder to shoulder with a bunch of strangers for more than 15 minutes..

Isn't there still a Federal mandate on that? I don't think they have any leeway.

Pandemic is ending just in time for WW3. How's that for a segue?

    Putin is offended and insulted?

“Here he is in a state of being offended and insulted," the source said. "It's paranoia that has reached the point of absurdity."

Try to look on the bright side--nuclear winter cancels global warming. Ski year round without having to go to South America or NZ.

Nice book end. The media can only concentrate on one big story at a time.

Do we nominate Putin for a Nobel prize? I mean the guy singlehandedly ended the COVID 19 pandemic...

Got the non rona head cold flu after my last ski trip. It sucks worse than when I got rona.

Not saying rona is a nothing burger. But this shit I got now is lingering head sinus and can’t think right. And cough etc.

Maybe it’s rona v4 and the tests aren’t picking it up.

Almost a week of non productivity.
    Unless you include shit posting.
