What happened to the hand grenades and rpg -7’s? Rifles will do squat.

Not that I support a Stalingrad type fight with civilians in the first place. Real easy for us to cheer that on.

Zelensky and other Ukrainian leadership has said over and over again they didn't stage military forces because they didn't want to do anything that would be construed as provoking a fight with Russia. Imagine if they had staged all their troops at the border and geared up for a huge battle. Russia would've claimed Ukraine shot first and we'd have folks like Tucker Carlson and other talking heads on Faux convincing the GOP supporters that Ukrainians are Nazis and deserve what they're getting. It seems far fetched but it probably would work with a good chunk of the US population. Now apply that to EU countries as well and I have to assume Zelensky calculated, correctly, that it was a bad idea to gear up for a huge battle the way you think he should have. honestly, not trying to make a political point here, just pointing out the reality of our media systems these days as propaganda arms for various interests.
Damn shame, throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that

^ The goal was to not feed into Putin's false flag charade. Preemptively blowing bridges, mining roads, etc., plays into Putin's agenda giving him pretext for invasion.

had they blown bridges, set mines, etc. you would've said they are to blame for starting the conflict. Fuck off.

APPLEBAUM: There are Americans supporting Putin. I mean, they've gone a little quieter in the last three or four days. I mean, the most extraordinary and influential one of them is Tucker Carlson, the Fox News host who not only is pro-Russian in his broadcasts, but also, there are elements of what he says that make me think he's in touch with somebody who's giving him ideas. I mean, he had a very strange monologue about Ukraine not really being a democracy because they've locked up their main political opponent. And by that he meant the arrest of a pro-Russian oligarch in Ukraine who's not his political opponent, actually, he's somebody who's accused of grand corruption.

The question is, how does Tucker Carlson know about that story? How come he gave the story that twist? Who was telling it to him? You know, I don't have the answer to that. I don't know. But he clearly is in touch with Russians or people close to Russia who are trying to get him to present the news in a certain way.

They didn't have to blow bridges. For fucks sake. But they could at least had some sort of air defense in place, including drones. Fuck, a 40 mile line of supply trucks just sitting there, like a line of ducks. Filled with Russian kids who just want to be with mommy.

And maybe had the bridges ready to go with a flip of a switch.

The Ukrainians have been at war with Putin for a very long time and are putting up a hell of a fight. Including massive successes with drones and including blowing bridges.

Your stupidity is bottomless. If you want to make another stupid point about tactics go ahead but keep in mind you along with rest of the anti-Ukraine pro-Putin Tucker Glenn Greenwald reactionaries have so far been wrong about everything else.

Did you hear the story about the oligarchs yacht that was sunk by a Ukrainian crew member? Apparently pulled all the right plugs and put it on the bottom

My point is that Zelensky SAID ALL THIS WAS NO WHOOP two weeks ago and told the west to BACK OFF. Remember that, genius?

Your point is childish and reflects a child like understanding of what was happening. Like any smart leader Zelensky was posturing for peace, but preparing for war.

Benny I didn't think they would invade, or that they would go beyond Donetsk and Luhansk once they did, or that Putin was insane, either. So I was wrong. So what?

I was wrong, too. But, let's not warp the truth, war's first tragedy.

Then how the fuck is there a 40 mile line of trucks just parked on a road pointed at Kiev? Still, after a few days? Nice prep.

The line of trucks is stalled thanks in no small part to ongoing Ukrainian resistance. Two things can both be true:

    1) The Ukrainians are putting up a hell of a fight

    2) Russia still has overwhelming force and capabilities

Hell of a fight? Jesus, just point guns at them. Use those TV friendly Molotov cocktails. Jezuz. They're just sitting there.

Since Benny's retired and doesn't have a wife
He should go to Kyiv and offer his services as chief military strategist to Zelinskyy
Could use his posts in this thread as a resume, and claim he's a local
I'm sure they would welcome his insight :FM:
