I found it totally unsurprising after reading a little bit of

But it was interesting to confirm the standing of that book, philosophy or both. If you want to dip your head any further in shit there's a translation of it:

Yeah, Putin's playbook for years - and he has obviously accomplished many of the goals. But it is still different, to me, to read a Russian justification for the war that has.... nothing to do the stated goals at the UN.
And it's not just Putin that worships at the Kremlin, MTG, Paul Gosar and all of the other fucks steep/cono/dweeb heroes can get fucked too.

“ looks like ukrainian drones took out 3 divisions of armor, a fuel train and air defenses, A whole US brigade wing of apaches just landed in turkey. I do believe the US now has most of its front line trace armaments nearby now. B2 bombers, Fighter jets, Awax, Bradleys, M1's, A-10's, Apaches, howitzers, MLRS, Fuel trucks, and even some avengers. Looks like we are postured to be the ref in this fight if shit gets gnar gnar and the EU/Nato is the ones giving the green light.”
This is turning out to be quite a little proxy war.

This article is from 2/26, which was a lifetime ago now, I am sure all of this is being discussed

But what is absolutely HILARIOUS about you posting this is that we all know that if he did that, you would be screaming and howling about how Biden created $8.00 a gallon gas, and that he is incompetent.

For sure. And the confirmation that the bullshit is bullshit went very well with the assertion that they've been telling us all the real plan since Putin stated it publicly 15 years ago. I kinda want to read that speech now, but there's only so much Russian fascist philosophy I can take.
Polish president denies sending planes to UA. Lots of conflicting info on the transfer of airpower. If this were a Naked Gun movie, there might be planes fueling in the background while the president gives a presser denying any action.

Trivial relative to the human toll but it sucks to lose historic architecture.

Have you seen a one armed man around here?
You're cutting back your consumption? Not a gotcha callout. But seriously, cut your consumption. Even the black market price (if we ever get to that point) is going to be driven by the global prices. Strangle the producers.
ETA: and while we're writing our representatives, tell them to raise the gas tax and adjust other taxes as needed. Anyone who votes to subsidize demand for Russia's only meaningful exports right now needs to retire yesterday.
I have a recently retired SF buddy who just got to Poland. Plans to cross and make his way to Kyiv. He already has lots of contacts in the Ukrainian military from training Ukrainian SOF the last couple of years. He isn't a spring chicken (39) but I wouldn't want to line up against him in combat.
Know of a handful of others seriously thinking of following his lead.
thing is, in a traditional war, this wouldnt matter. But in urban combat, his expertise both in action as well as in the planning/tactics and training of the UA resistance will be invaluable.
Unless of course putin decides to just level the cities from afar. In that case, no amount of training, tactics and expertise will help.
One of my brothers best friends has lived Ukraine for 20 years, he’s a highly-decorated retired Marine Captain and veteran of multiple combat deployments and a ridiculous badass.
He’s currently “in the field” in Ukraine. We’re hoping he keeps his head down but it’s unlikely.

Was it a POMCUS site? We used to have 6 heavy divisions worth of equipment at POMCUS sites, but no more. They were talking about putting POMCUS back in Poland a few years back.
For others, we basically could store an entire armored division with almost no troops present, just some guards and maintainers, and then in the event of war, you fly the troops over in airliners. This gets you an armored corps online in a few days instead of a few weeks if you have to load onto transport ships and cross the Atlantic (and get torpedoed on the way). US used to do REFORGER exercises to practice redeploying to Europe on short notice.
Many of our units are much lighter these days as there has been a huge focus on air mobility and rapid deployment around the world.

It has become clear that what exists inside the Kremlin is no longer a “regime” at all—a system of government where multiple figures can affect and feed into decision-making, from security chiefs to billionaires—as many believed.
Instead, it has transformed into what political scientists call a personalist dictatorship, where the whims of one man, and one man only, determine policy

But how did so many miss that Putin and his rule had changed? Part of the answer is that Putin has been in power so long that much analysis simply got frozen in the past. Impressions about a Russia dominated by “oligarchs” froze into legend and did not keep up with their effective liquidation as a class. (It didn’t help that Westerns know plenty of Russian billionaires from the Davos circuit, but don’t know the security officials who’ve increasingly embraced the sort of religious nationalism that seems to have gripped Putin.)
If Putin really follows through, and if the Ukraine actually puts up the resistance it’s vowing, his army will be sitting pretty vulnerable to nato. Maybe why he has not committed his Air Force so much.

We still have a few sites like POMCUS around the world but we have also transitioned quite a bit to prepositioned maritime cargo ships operated by MSC. Same idea with the ships sailing at the first sign of conflict and troops flying over to meet them. We have multiple squadrons around the world with different AORs they respond to.
One of the mags here, Second Mate, is based on one of these vessels for this mission.
Slow bleed still works in RU’s favor for eventual takeover
Watching it happen is awful
Looks like Poland and Slovakia aren’t providing fighter planes to UA after all…
