The revolution he led went on to spawn a global power block of Communist mass deaths, oppressions, and abuses that dominated half the world for over 70 years and lives on over 100 years later in the form of China and the intellectual legacy of the armies of useful idiots thus formed and their ideological detritus, which includes you?

But just to be clear, the antinuclear movement was massively funded and supported from its inception by the Soviets as a way to undermine economic prosperity and defense in the free world in order to allow the vulnerability needed for the expansion of the dictatorship of the proletariat.

    Ukraine

pooty just ordered a special tour of duty for nuclear ops because of the western actions. it is not impossible this gets uglier.

apologies if that was mentioned. if russia uses a small nuke to bring the situation to his control it will obviously have the opposite effect.

    Say...what?

You go live next to a nuke waste dump, and get back to us.

Interesting that they sent a little platoon in to guard Chenobyl immediately.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

I can not imagine Putin is insane enough to use nukes, but maybe the syphilis has gotten that far in his brain now??? Regardless, that is how WW3 starts. I hope his own people kill the fucker before it goes that far.

NATO land warfare doctrine absolutely relies of air superiority with fighters and AWACS, not formation organic (from regiment up) IADS, which is Soviet/Russian doctrine.

Consequently, capable SAM systems are a Russian thing. The Ukrainians have many SAMS.

NATO countries have MANPADS and small air defense systems with ranges of a few or a few dozen miles at most.

MANPADS are easy to use and you can hand those to the Ukrainians.

Big SAMS like Russia has can protect half of Ukraine while sitting on the Russian side of the border. NATO doesn't have these. NATO really only fields the equivalents to the SA-6 and the SA-9 with better seekers.

NATO's non-MANPAD SAMS require both training and presence in theater. That would mean putting NATO manned SAM units on the ground in Ukraine with NATO troops pulling the trigger. Again, we don't have a ton of these.

And so we are giving the Ukrainians MANPADS, but anything more than that and you ask why SAMS vs Fighters?

NATO must decide how they would react to a tactical nuke being used by Putler in a way meant to intimidate the West.

And how might Putler do that?

*A stratospheric burst over the North Sea to demonstrate will and determination? Pure intimidation that could be interpreted as a bluff.
*Nuking a Ukrainian defensive position in Ukraine? Dirty, ugly, not tactically useful while being highly inflammatory and engendering pure hatred from even sympathetic Ukrainians and Russians.
*Nuking a Ukrainian city? He'd be perceived as a bloodthirsty madman truly on the level of Hitler and Tojo, there would be no coming back in international relations and his own people might take him out, an international pariah state and true cold war would be the best outcome he could hope for from this.
*Anything beyond these scenarios (ie nuking NATO) requires nuclear retaliation against Russia, so Putler doesn't want to do that.

I 100% believe Putler is just rattling his saber trying to dissuade the newly coalescing world determination to oppose him as he enters into preliminary negotiations with Ukraine.

I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

Putin's war is unpopular among informed Russians. However just as in America many Russians are susceptible to propaganda. The Russian State is aggressively controlling the media in Russia. Domestic news sources are not allowed to call this a war, access to social media is curtailed, and so far many Russians in rural areas don't even know Russia invaded Ukraine. So one way to think about Putin's nuclear posturing is Moscow manufacturing threats to justify aggression.

It's my opinion. However, given how Ukranian forces seem to be holding up at the moment, why would Zelensky have agreed to talk with Russia "without preconditions" seemingly out of the blue today?

There is no winner if it comes to that. There’s also no way Putin stands a chance in a conventional conflict with NATO, he knows that

    I love all you guys.

Accusing me of being pro Pinochet, but when I lived there he was fighting soviet aggression and expansion. And now accusing me of being pro Putin? Laughable. I grew up in a world that was all about stopping it. My old man still does.

Pick one and stick with it.

And btw, if the Ukraine wins expect PNW to go over there and investigate human right abuse.

Pinochet, Putin, Drumpf: it's obvious you love licking the boot of authoritarianism.

Hopefully. Interesting read on wiki, Putin has more options than I realized:

Not clear to me if "high alert" is fueling the liquid fueled rockets or are they few steps from that? All the articles I clicked don't have details.

I'm conflicted about helping the Ukrainian government. On one hand, Ukraine was unjustly attacked.
But on the other hand, we are helping one of the most corrupt governments

    Gotta choose!

    1. A democratically elected but corrupt government working on reforms
    2. Foreign military invasion to install the authoritarian puppet of a brutal dictator

gosh... super conflicted... Putler is glad you are conflicted

Are they more corrupt than the Russians or any government? Most western nations hide their corruption very well.
