We are witnissing the greatest downfall in the history of the russian economy. They just don't know it yet.

People in Moscow are running for the bank. They placed a maximum withdrawel of $20 to not loose solvency. The russian population is starting to see what's happening.

Putin played stupid games and won stupid prizes.
That is cool in this instance but also terrifying.

The Russian military is indiscriminately attacking the Ukrainian populace. The Russian military has shown a blatant disregard for civilian lives by using ballistic missiles and other explosive weapons with wide area effects in densely populated areas.

First off, is vitali, THAT vitali klitsko? Brother of Wladamir? I knew one of them got into politics a few years ago.

Secondly, precision guided munitions are expensive AF and quite frankly, Russia does not have those is significant numbers. Its not like they are choosing less accurate weaponry, they literally do not have very many precision guided missiles and bombs. Russia has cutting edge technology, but they do not have the money or capacity to produce it on a large scale, nor to maintain it. this is where the US military is on a WHOLE NOTHER level... when we put weapons into operational status, they typically are not show-pieces. We produce them in useful quantities and designate resources to maintain them.

In my mind, there is no good reason for NATO or the US to step in militarily. That will not stop the slaughter of ukrainians, and will result in even more death. We need to sanction russia and anyone who does business with russia back to fucking poverty. Crushing, cascading tranches of sanctions by the fucking day. Its extremely disapointing that germany is pushing back on SWIFT sanctions.

It kind of blows my mind that people screaming we need to intervene militarily, are also against sanctions if they also have negative effects on the home economy. Sanctions were devised by hard AF men who had been through total wars and wanted a tool to avoid those again. They understood the difference between depressed-economy-bad, and send all your 18-32yr old men off to war bad. Once is non-comparable to the other.

Yes it is that Vitali and his brother Wladamir joined the Kyiv Territorial Defense Brigade earlier this month.

Americans aren't much smarter. (including myself) Shoot, we're so anti-Putin*, we don't ask questions... many of us would find/create propaganda ourselves.

This video was posted yesterday, and I thought later didn't seem right to me

Look at the time, figure out where the sun is, where the missile comes from, and what cardinal direction that is. I think it's roughly west. I don't think there were any Russian forces in that direction. If so, this is not itself Russian aggression, but a product of it.

Further, the air is mighty clear for a major war zone. Though I also note the missile smoke indicates a decent breeze. And there wasn't much fighting near Kyiv, so clear air checks out.

    * For good reason. Fuck that guy. I'm struggling with his motives though. Don't know why he's fighting this war (and he claims the "special military operation" - no reason to doubt the overall narrative). He must know the world would respond badly. Did Putin present a UN Colin Powell briefing I missed? How did he think it was going to work out for him? Why do it?

I looked at RT last night and don't see any serious justification there (nazis**, rightwing nationalists in the east, 2014 coup). A bit about a temporary war halt recently in an attempt to negotiate and complaints about Ukraine closing contacts. For some reason Zelensky doesn't like the terms or want to meet in Belarus. At least they're talking (I hope that's true).

** is a Russian "nazi" any nationalist who isn't Russian? E.g. Ukrainians proud of their independence.
The city is surrounded by Russian military equipment and it could easily be launched from the west IMO. Are you suggesting that the Ukrainian military shot a missile at the apartment building for some reason? Why would they do that? Or do you think a NATO county launched the missiles. I don't buy it...
Damn shame, throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that

They're also launching missiles from Belarus.

Things to doubt - casualty numbers from Russia or Ukraine (bias), specific "leaked" intel
Things not to doubt - Putin being a dickface (long history of evidence around this), general disregard for civilians by Russia at least

Suggesting the Ukrainians fired at a Russian aircraft and missed. Idk. I'm just saying it looks like it came from a direction where Russian forces probably weren't. Maybe they are though. Maybe special forces.

I considered not posting. War is bad. Shit happens. Putin is making this war. It's his choice, his fault. He should stop.

ya dudes got millions, probably 10s and would be welcomed in all manner of countries but hes carrying a rifle. I think his brother is supposed to be headed back too.

Also, I was thinking... I think sweden finland etc are still scared to piss off russia by joining nato, but cant they create a new alliance with ukraine and a few other states that cant join nato for whatever reason?

Also, still trying to make sense of how this all could make sense.... he is targeting ukrainian infrastructure related to oil and natural gas stuff, which doesn't seem that surprising, but that seems to be the main focus. So lets think like, does he just want to slow their ability to develope their natural gas reserves sothey are less prosperous powerufl and threatening in the future once peace is negotiated for? That seems odd, because if he can't negotiate them not joining nato and they do, having ukraine be less prosperous but full of american tanks and air and anti air assets doesn't seem like a great trade.

Its almost as if he wants to fuck up their ability to extract those reserves because he thinks hel'll be back for them later. As in, the next conflict.

You're a couple days behind the times, bro. NATO US UK have all specifically said we are not going to send troops. Germany has stepped up and the SWIFT sanctions are creating massive bank runs in Russia. Lord Pootie Poot has seriously miscalculated not only Ukrainain and European resolve, but that of the entire fucking world.

He has painted himself into a terrible corner, and the Russian people may well put a stop to it today.

    ^^^

Finland fought off the Russians in WWII. When the Russians were a much bigger army and Finland had only been a separate country from Sweden for less than 40 years. I don’t think they’re scared.
