^ Earlier today a Ukrainian defense spokesperson said Russia lost 2,800 troops, 80 tanks, 516 armored vehicles, 10 planes, and 7 helicopters so far in its invasion of Ukraine.

If those numbers are accurate and Ukraine can keep fighting then this is not over. Ukraine can't stop the Russian invasion but maybe they can make the occupation untenable for Russia.

Has there ever been this level of availability for war footage? It's unreal. Especially considering it's in near real time.

I'd say that the Syrian Civil War was the first real example of war being made available on the internet. A lot of social media platforms had been around for a while, and the anti-government forces used them effectively at first to coordinate protests and spread unrest to the population. When the governments in Libya, Egypt, and Syria all cracked down on the protestors with bloodshed, there were cell phones everywhere to record it. The population of Syria just happened to be wealthy enough and connected enough to the internet that when the real fighting started smartphones were common-enough to really push the war to an online audience.

Ukraine is the next theater of war, in more ways than one.

It's pretty wild that we can't all agree that what Russia is doing in Ukraine is bad, but in a place like Florida the citizens have elected officials pass laws to prohibit saying "gay". I don't know what that says for us as a society but it doesn't seem like anything good.
