Been glad to be training for the Grand Traverse. Only going Westbound at 5am before work or after 11am on the weekends.

go upside down.
Looks like the lowest volume of Saturday traffic in awhile. There’s some 4D chess going on for sure.
Motherfuckers. Can’t zig when they zag if they’re not zagging.

If we're gonna wear uniforms, we should all wear somethin' different!
I’m riding the winter park express ski train and taking a break from I70 next weekend. Discount code c323 earned me half price tickets. Today is the last day to purchase and travel needs to happen before April 4. I’m not sure I’ll be on my game without the typical 2-3 hour commute.
Definitely up for Monday turns, should hopefully be stormy, at least in the late afternoon. HMU
Steamboat pulled a sneaky, even though it's Ikon base blackout, they apparently sold hundreds of discounted $90 tickets to college kids across the country for this weekend and the rest of the season. Explains the massive groups of frat boys and gals all lumping together everywhere signifying the start of spring break.
There was a lift line at Morningside yesterday at 3pm, lol....
Also, hotels boked at 100% capacity through next weekend, which is Winter Wondergrass. Those guys like to party AND ski. We're fucked. Tuesday/Wednesday FTW.
The masses are here, and ready to partay. Skared, I hope you packed your patience. I'll be on the other side of the gates for the weekend.![]()
Weird 4D chess Saturday up here. Didn't even hit 17k, Jane parking barely filled. With lodging occupancy at 99%, the destination crowds were here in force, but the Denver crowd was somewhat subdued.
texted a friend in denver to see if they want to make some turns tomorrow morning and he said not planning on coming up because presidents weekend is too nutty
It certainly is a noticeably different kind of crowd in the way they use the mountain and facilities. Notably more clueless and even messier. I've worked here in the Base Services/Facilities/Grounds world since '04.
I think we were expecting more madness because of how jammed the weekends have been this season as a rule. A typical season sees the resort run out of parking 4 or 5 times. This was the first Saturday since New Year's weekend that parking didn't fill, and it filled up on most of those Sundays too.
Pretty weird to see 16.7k skiers and be like "that wasn't too bad."
Nice! We've got an insider. Ask your boss about the parties we used to have in the apartment upstairs for Splash.I've worked here in the Base Services/Facilities/Grounds world since '04.
I think now is about the time every year when we talk about having a ski day and never do.
Ha! Super cool. I live in the Balcony House apartment, took it over in 2015 when the Director at the time retired and my boss moved out. Both he and the resident prior to him have told me some stories. I frequently sit here and think about if these walls could talk. Small world 'round here.
Visiting dude and dudette from California checking in. Yeah, we haven't met any locals yet in the chairs. Washington DC, Cincinnati, Florida, etc.
We took a free mountain tour of Winter Park today to get our bearings, learn how to move around the mountain efficiently, find out about a few runs that we wouldn't think of checking out otherwise, etc.
This is in the Pioneer Express side this afternoon. Hardly anyone on this side of the mountain! It felt so good to be able to ski right back to the chair and to have fairly empty runs that we ended up doing a few laps here before moving on to the Mary Jane side.
Great day on an amazing mountain.
That ganjala line in Breck yesterday was insanity, I've never seen it spill all the way onto then down main st like that. I think my employee who took his ski break skinning up baldy got more skiing in than anyone inbounds yesterday
Only 1.5 hours back to Denver from the basin at 2:45pm, which to me is a big win. And also smooth sailing up at 8:30. This weekend was weird.

go upside down.
It’s 4D chess. I guarantee next Fri-Sun will be chaos again, with all the snow this week and all the hoards that didn’t go up this weekend. Everyone will think they outsmarted the system until they hit a stopped I70 at 5:45am next Sat by the Dino lots.
Yeah, left Arvada at 8 am yesterday and cruised to Jones easy. Headed back around 3 and hit some slowdowns near Idaho Springs but nothing bad. Weird traffic for sure. Was expecting it to be much much worse. Surely the weather in Denver played a role too? Basically rock climbing season now.
just here to check in
seems that when the ski areas are closed for the nite and if your going the right direction at the right time well there is no traffic funny
shredded ruby hill this weekend like a boss from the mtns
had a blast driving west on 70 at nite no traffic
3 lane change weaving passing on the right for the dip shits that were out there 85-90mph mt vernon canyon all the way to the backside of floyd hill
haven't driven this fast inwhile so fun
weaving in and out of the slow pokes in the left lane uh no traffic and they are still camped in the left lane
hit kermits at 80mph that was alittle sketch those two turns at the bottom will wake a guy up
95 before dumont to gtown hill, slowed down to 80 through dumont
truely and enjoyable highway to drive at a high rate of speed with little to no traffic
and I guess those light bars on jeeps from littleton are so they can see the car in front of them while in bumper to bumper slow moving east bound traffic, way to lite it up bro
Morningside was the only mistake we made all weekend. Kid wanted to ski the Chutes and feed the birds... so we headed over there. Maze was full, no fuckin' birds, and Chute 3 was pretty spicy.
I told the kid we'd never go over to Morningside EVER again. Next day he wanted to ski the Chutes again, so we hiked up. It's literally a fucking 10 minute hike, just like the good ol' days. I think it only took him 5.
It was definitely a pretty bizarro weeekend. Pretty much ski-on everywhere we went, but we did do a few laps in Closet and waited in Sundown for them. My mate with a pad up there drove us up to the Thunder drop-off, so we didn't go to the base area one single time. The masses are here, and ready to partay. Skared, I hope you packed your patience. I'll be on the other side of the gates for the weekend.![]()
