You'd have to be a GM engineer or salesman to know the family history of any of their non-flagship models.
It's goddam frustrating that a company consistently decides come out with and then promptly axe all of their most compelling cars (like the CTS-V wagon, the ATS-V, the Vette, the G8/GTO, the Saturn Sky Redline, the Volt, etc. ), but then continues to keep puking out more garbage like their endless sea of CUVs/SUVs. I don't know if I can keep living in a world where the CTS-V wagon is discontinued and the Chevy Trax/Buick Encore is popular. In a world where they kill Pontiac and Saturn but keep Buick. It's downright depressing.

They also seem to to completely NOT market any of their best cars and then wonder "WhY IsN'T AnYboDy BUYiNG oUR G8?" Uhhh, maybe because most people didn't even know they existed?

Yeah. Some of the decisions that dude made were truly baffling. I was a big Cadillac nerd and the new senseless naming schemes and changes to the company had me so confused I pretty much gave up on the brand. Haha.

Apparently it was a huge pain in ass for the designers because they kept having to fly to Michigan to talk with the engineers instead of just walking down the hall.

For the life of me I can’t figure out why they don’t build on the success of their Cadillac DPi prototypes in IMSA.

They’ve been top of the heap for so long (4 straight Rolex 24 wins and barely lost for 2nd this year) in a series that goes toe to toe with the top manufacturers in the world and I guarantee not many potential Caddy buyers are even remotely aware of that.

Isn't that the biggest reason to go racing?

I really didn't think I was going to particularly like the car or dislike it. Mine is the 3.6 Luxury, so it has all the shit on it. Got it with 33k miles, one owner on trade. I paid 13,500 for it and planned on keeping it for only 60 days. I've got a offer from Carvana for 18,900.

I might keep it though and drive it till its worth 13,500. Its REALLY fast for what it is. Handles great. I don't think the 2.0 4 cylinder would be near the vehicle the 3.6 is.

The V just takes the 3.6 engine and twin turbos it to 445 hp. They are in the high 30s though and not worth it for the extra 110hp.

I really like the car and everyone thinks its a V. I've also got a LR4 I drive so it's not a everyday car. Not a huge car by any means. The ATS does have a big trunk and the seats fold down.

This is a 2020 R8 Performance I sold yesterday painted in Porsche's Chalk. Quite possible the best car for the money.

    I like that.

Didn't R8s used to be full of issues, like, since day 1?
Such a beautiful car, it's good to hear they worked out some bugs. One of the few cars that I think actually looks better as a convertible/spyder.

Theyre pretty bulletproof. So are the Huracans. Thy R8 has a better warranty and a service contract available though. And you don't look like a douche.

My buddy has been dailing his r8 for years with not much issue. For "supercar" daily driving, i think its hard to go wrong with r8, maybe a Pcar thrown in there. Guy down the street dailies his McLaren which I have heard is doable. Wouldn't turn down an FF either.

Yeah. That V10's a fantastic motor. Brother has it in his S8. Been bullet proof. Of course that is a VERY low stress de-tuned application of that engine. Just meant for smoove, high speed cruising in that case. I have no concerns with it. Just may need to replace the intake manifold at some point, but that's not really a huge deal considering the car.

Yes. Someone should tell Cadillac to brag a bit about that. Corvette too with their success.

Nice! Did they ever pair the 3.6 with a manual trans? Everything I've seen with the MT is either the 2.0 or the V.

Awwww. That sucks it only comes on either their lowest OR highest trim. No in-between. Bummer, because it sounds like the 3.6 Luxury could be just the ticket. If my next car isn't an EV or hybrid, I REALLY want a manual again. Tired of ATs.

Sounds like an opportunity to sell the young family something bigger to accommodate their needs. Got any Bentaygas on the lot?

On the topic, are you seeing as many wrapped Uruses in Nashvegas as we are down here?

No shit, I passed fucking 3 of them today. 3. Each wrapped a different shade of tacky. One was even kind of a matte black suede finish, which did a wonderful job of catching all the yellow pine pollen in the air. Looked like it was bought at the bottom of a lake.

I can’t think of a more expensive way to show the world you’re an idiot.

Indeed it was. That one was hot pink. Completely different from the 3 I saw today and the 7 others I’ve seen since Saturday.

I know there’s money here, same as any other big city, but the car scene is pretty insane on a daily basis. And like Jo said in The Facts of Life, you take the good, you take the bad...

Nice! I love that Shelby still produces similar vehicles in Vegas.
