Helping people instead of riding video game bikes? Whats wrong with you ? /s

Just me and one other today-didnt catch his screen name. An hour well spent, though. Drafting with just 2 is hard to keep steady. It was easy to get a bit behind, then put some power on to catch up and blow way past the other.

It was just RA and me (JV) for tonight's ride. He smoked me - after towing me most of the way around. Good ride though (and thanks for the tow!).

I'm working out what days I'm gonna do what during the week, Thursdays are more difficult for me due to work. I have a fairly flexible schedule, but technically it is during office hours. Oh, and I decided to ride outside on the fatty last night... so there's that. I should be pretty regular on Tuesdays.
The older I get, the faster I was.

    Punch it, Chewie.

    Damn he seems cool.

I’m focused on skiing right now, feels good to be off the bike for a while. Put over 9,000 miles in last year! I’ll be back for next Thursday

Zwift insider has planning a group ride, with double draft, and only useful power ups next Saturday morning. 2400 people are already signed up. This is a good way to knock off this badge and have some people to ride (aka draft) with.
Details here at Zwift Insider, and you can sign up here on Zwift.
    Who's in?
No Uber Pretzel for me today.
On Thursday afternoon I got my first COVID vaccination and it knocked me on my ass for all of Friday. Even though I was up early today and feel better, I didn’t think a 5hr, 130km day on the bike was in the cards for me.

You made the right call. It was challenging to say the least. I held back knowing the AdZ was at the end and still was in survival mode half way up that thing.

The Imperial Century was in the back of my mind too. After getting the free miles downhill from AdZ, then it’s pretty close (another 18-19 kms) and you’d be able to choose flat routes.

Yes once I was outta jungle I could cruise back to town. Felt like I was on the Champs on the final stage of the tour - just biking around with champagne in my hand.

At 6+ hours I’m surprised it didn’t feel like someone took your saddle off your bike and you were sitting on the post.

The way this is so different from outside is that you barely ever coast. I’m fried. Can’t imagine that GCN dude who did a 24 hour Zwift ride. Insane.

Chode pain was my biggest concern going into this so I did lots of different strategies to minimize it as much as possible. I also took a break at the top of the alp before coasting down off the bike.

Actually feel pretty good this morning. Ass is a little sore, but not too bad. Gonna get outside later today for a little nordic. Just got one of these for xmas and I'm gonna say it helped.

Percussion massages are incredible. Without a doubt helps my legs feel better the next day.

With that said, you guys are monsters. I'm good for an hour on Zwift. Tops.
    Super Impressive.

I’ve actually been looking at those. Can’t stomach to pay $500 for a name brand one, never thought about checking Amazon for a knock off.

All the studies show it’s effect is only placebo. That said, I own a hypervolt. Regardless of anything else, it’s pretty great for pain control.

I have what I believe is the cheapest one from Amz. It was like $42, and works fine. The battery life is comically short though. It goes for maybe 10 mins, so we just leave it plugged in all the time (it won't work when plugged in though).

Stretching is also not proven to help (hurts, actually). Massage is questionable at best. I think the percussion thing is useful for specific muscle knots in my back/shoulders, but not so much for the quads.

It turns out that we just have to rest after we go out and wreck ourselves with a 350 TSS ride. I miss being 23 and able to do that nearly every day.

So I can figure out just how slow I really am, what is the average lap time for the group ride?

First lap is around 17min, maybe slightly longer depending on how well we group together at the start. 2nd lap seems to come in close to 16. Part of that is because we have the pace down.

Thx...I'm not as far off as I thought.

edit: I'm sure I'll be crushed though on the 3rd lap climb, if it even takes that long. I'll keep working on it.

Well I just bought one for $100 Canadian from Amazon. See how she goes. I do a lot of foam rolling, lacrosse ball, band and stretching so I do believe in this voodoo. Excited to try it out on some knots in my upper back.

And if you're in the group draft, your lap time will be quicker.
The draft will not reduce your work/power output. The draft will just make you go faster with the same amount of output.

I rode it yesterday and was around 18 minutes per lap but that included a few minute warm up on the 1st and a similar cool down on the last . I'd like to see the wattage average closer to 2/kg before I consider kicking in with you guys though. I'm around 1.5 now.

    It's a fun course though...nice choice.
