Metaline can get a lot of rain in the winter. The advantage to Metaline is it is closer to Nelson/WH20, although Republic isn't too far from Red Mtn.
Coming back to this, how does the presence of Kootenay Pass factor into things? I’ve heard the backcountry up there is pretty good.

Any of you degenerates holding a Schweitzer ticket for this Saturday? Trying to find one for a homie who finally has a day to burn. In addition to $$$ for the ticket, I got a growler of PSB Fat Lip for your troubles....

Any recommendations on before/after work touring spots near Spokane? I'm thinking Mt Spokane is probably the best area but I've been having trouble finding areas that aren't super dense with trees. Looking for short, low angle, very low avi danger tours ideally within an hour from Spokane.

Here’s a good spot, which is pretty safe from avalanches as long as one stays along the ridge/in the trees. Unfortunately a bit over an hour to get there from Spokane.

It was busy today. Saw a ton of people with day tickets and lots of people remarking how it "really wasn't a bad drive from Seattle". Good strategy was employed and lift lines were minimal.

The sunshine was a nice treat. Still lots of goods to be had. Frontside S/E facing aspects got a little cooked. Northerly still cold and dry.

I'm headed to Turner mountain tomorrow and will be back at schwizzle Sunday.

Also made the Thursday drive from Seattle.

Was that busy today? Felt like there was hardly anyone there to me, especially considering what's been going on back home. Found fresh turns everywhere until we packed it up about 3pm

Common sense. So rare today in America it's almost like having a superpower.

I saw you guys this morning in line at the Great Mistake and was going to say something on top but, you were gone by the time I got off the chair. I'll keep looking.

I'll go check it out. Too bad there's not an Idaho/Eastern WA book like Martin Volken wrote for Western WA. I toured solely by that book when I lived in Seattle.

Think of it as a chance to do original exploring. A rare opportunity these days. Way easier than it used to be, and getting less rewarding as the challenge shrinks.
