What's a good enough glue for mounts and re-mounts that is easy to store and easy to disperse. I use west marine epoxy for mounts I want to be perfect, but I want something that's easier to deal with. Wood glue? Goop?

If you can gather enough info from this thread to mount your own fucking skis you should be able to figure out which glue to put in the holes. Use whatever you think is good enough. Some people demand high quality epoxy every single time while others use whatever they have on hand/don’t give it a second thought. Pick your poison and run with it.

slowset/ GG/ wood glue whatever you got that seals the hole & doesnt pull out

whatever you got you are just dripping it in the holes in exactly the same way

whatever you are using if the screw is stuck use heat on it before you strip the head

if you don't have a soldering iron put a 1/4 drill bit backwards in the drill chuck and run at high speed to make heat

nope, that's the easiest way to do it IMO. you already know the mount works, so just run it.

Great. Couple other rookie questions. QK and BF inserts are more or less the same minus the install process is slightly different right? Recommend one over the other?

I can still use my current screws for the inserts right?

one has a flathead slot the other doesn't. I use two nuts on a machine screw to install them so they are essentially the same for me. I'm not aware of any other significant differences.

Regular wood mount screws won't work with inserts. I think the binding freedom website has a chart of the appropriate m5 screws for a number of bindings.

I prefer not to have the slot. In concerned the slot would allow water to seep in.

I've had success with QK, but haven't used BF. Both have sets of screws available for pretty much any binding on the market, or you can go down to home depot and play treasure hunt if you really hate having free time. Regular binding screws do not work with inserts.

yeah i for one love BF inserts. never used the other dudes, but i usually end up using a flathead to finish getting them home.

Gotta hit ace hardware for your random screw needs. I don't know if the clientele is just more courteous or if they pay someone to unfuck the screw bins, but everything is labeled and in place. Everytime I go to Lowe's or Home Depot for the same I feel like a very lost child in a crowd.

My go-to test is yanking up and down on your boot while looking for brake movement. Although the boot/binding contact may interfere with that test.
You could try turning the adjustment arms a few turns, but if the dildo starts moving in relation to the arms you’ve gone too far.
(Keep an eye on the slight angle between arms and dildo indicated below-if you see it change/go parallel you’ve gone too far).

I hope I'm not inserting ignorance and confusion in to the topic, but when the forward pressure on my pivots is adjusted to where you can't easily yank/twist the dildo side to side, the pressure indicator is past the line by several mm, not behind like that pic.

The indicator should never be relied on with pivots. They are horribly inconsistent.

Go to a real hardware store. HD sucks.
True-value - especially the "old, been around the last 50 years" versions often have a really nice section of metric machine screws with a variety of head styles. Super worth a call to check. Way better than the big box stores.

is this the part where someone claims GG will expand and blow up your skis ?

I used GG to glue in pieces of dowel but the fit was on the loose side so in the AM the GG had spit each piece of dowel neatly out on the top sheet
