I was at Winter Park today, it was awesome, never queued more than ten minutes.

Copper the two previous days, they certainly organise the queuing system far better but the snow was much better at Winter Park.

So far very happy with my 3 days of the season.

Now up at Jackson Hole to see how that is......

Ha. Last day prior to reservations. Yesterday I lapped Pioneer 4-5 times. Zero lines at 9:30AM. Snow was great.

Did they really paint the background of the snowstake cam at WP to make it look like it is snowing?

Stupid question. Can you make a reservation from the app or do you have to use the website?

Also, for those that chose not to find something to bitch about. Skiing has been awesome at Winter Park. Go git ya sum!

^^^ From app or website. App just sends you to the website. In app: Destinations > [choose mtn, scroll down] > Reserve Days Now.

January’s looking good for Aspen. Skiings really good and you don’t have to wait in any lines

Nightlife’s pretty much shot, but you’ll feel much better the next morning!

Hit day # 11 on my Ikon pass. So far the investment seems to be paying off. Might need to drive all the way out to Shred's hill and do some more investing...

I've got 9 days in so far, first season of skiing ever and it definitely seems like the pass is the way to go.

As part of my JH season full pass, we get a base ikon pass included.

I entered all of my info on nov. 23. got the affirmative on picture, etc. Had one last year as well, nothing changed.
    I got nuthin'.
So I called them and she says it appears there's a problem w/your address.
It worked fine last time, I sez.
    She sez new software maybe.
She sez she'll add box after PO. Hmmm...
    I sez how long.
    She sez 2 weeks.
I sez 5 weeks late and now 2 more when it's supposed to be 7-10 days?
    She sez yep.
I ask if she can email me with a confirmation that the ball is rolling.
she sez she's gone on vacation tomorrow.

How do you propose they replace the Ikon revenue?

    Double season pass prices?

Next year, I will probably punt on the Epic Pass, buy a DV pass and enjoy the free IKON pass that goes with it.
BTW, the price of the DV pass did not decrease when IKON started. I don't think that lost IKON revenue will result in increased pass prices, at least for the KSL Capital resorts. I don't know why it would be different for Jay Kemmerer

The Ikon pass itself isn't a revenue generator, resorts make money by participating in Ikon because it gets people to take multiple ski trips each winter, and in the process, they spend shitloads of money on lodging, booze and food.

Except that there is a surcharge if you want to use IKON at Aspen or JH. I wonder whether less IKON holders are actually paying the surcharge to ski these resorts?

That seems irrelevant, there are like 20 other resorts that are included in the Ikon Pass. The people who want to go to Jackson or Aspen are largely going to take those trips regardless of day ticket prices.

The difference lies with the other resorts, where up until a few years ago, people would buy a single resort pass, and only ski at that resort for the season. A lot of those folks are now taking multiple ski trips, and in the process, spending more.

At least that's the sense I've gotten from speaking with Ikoners.

If you go to an alterra owned resort, they can print your pass at the ticket window.

Because the skiing is good here right now, I haven't been too bothered by not having the hard pass. But I am planning a shorty trip to Alpental this february, 'cuz I been training...

They did tell me what you said but it was a bit unclear. Can I get my hardpass at an alterra resort or just a daily ticket to allow me to ikon it without the hard pass?

re: JH - historically JH was one of the last places a lesser skier would go; Tough skiing, cold weather, marginal night life, remote, etc.
    A skiers mountain reputation.
Now with the ikon, people who would have not considered it before a dozen other easier places, these hordes of shite skiers show up for a week, not a few days or a weekend.

Any available slack in our season was stretched to the max for 2 years, This season is altogether different.

And JH doesn't need ANY help getting people here. Since fat skis the visits have only gone up. JHMR wasn't desperately searching for some cash infusion. If they'd actually go skiing and focus on improving the skier experience, they'd fill every bed in the valley with advanced /expert skiers who never go anywhere else.

Jackson is also stupid easy to get to from major metro areas these days. That wasn't the case 20 years ago. My parents still live in NJ, so my dad flies to ski on occasion, and he insists Jackson is the most accessible destination resort from the NYC metro area, even beating out Utah because you don't need to deal with the drive up LCC/BCC or Parley's to get to your place after you land.

Does EWR have nonstop to JH? Where does he fly out of, Morristown? Otherwise Jackson is no easier to get to from New Jersey and say Eagle, Heber or Aspen. I think that slc resorts are by far the easiest to get to and stay at. Luckily, there are still a lot of ice coaster’s who still don’t want to come to UT
