I would just start coughing a lot if some Super Trooper was so bored he had to pull me over.

Obviously, you haven't tried to buy a bike recently.

You keep saying this as if the pandemic hasn’t been a major hit to businesses in every state.

Whether you care to admit it or not you are part of the NY Metro area. It's ok though because we don't really want NJ but we're stuck with you

Only if it’s northern NJ. Downstate is a whole ‘ other deal I think. You gotta reverse it for NJ, right?

Considering the VT situation, I may finally come ski in NH this year. I’ll wave

Actually isn't everything between the Chesapeake and New London part of the NY Metro? I mean, we are the biggest and the bestest right?

Benny said the NYC Metro includes DC and Boston.

But really that’s another thread guys.

Subscribed for the hot LI babes and food reviews. Plus there's world class skiing right here in NJ.

I'd prefer to wrap the expedition to plot the Upstate before getting too far in the weeds on anything else.

Well for one, we've got to wait until they put the water back in the canal.

So where's the line for southern NY, 17 and 287? I think we need to determine the right terminology before we can come up with the upstate answer.

With global warming things should get hot enough for that earlier than normal. It'll probably be done freezing around June.

You have to stop confusing terms. Southern NY is too close to Southern Tier. Southern Tier is part of Upstate. See map. It's just a sub region. Mid Hudson is just NYC suburbs - not part of upstate. Capitol Region, Mohawk Valley, and Central NY are all clearly and firmly Upstate along with Southern Tier. Western NY is Ohio. Or Canada. Whatever. No one cares, but it's one of those two. North Country is also disputed - it's either Canada, Northern NY or Upstate, but again no one gives a hoot about the 117,000 cows and 47 people that live there as long as the Adirondacks are open for visitors, so the disagreement is largely academic.

I say it's time to stop the senseless bloodbath and violence and move on from the geography to instead talk about what really makes upstate Upstate. It's not a place as much as a state of mind. Things like the Breakaway Lounge, the #2 dive bar in the Utica area per this definitive list:

Ranking the dive bars in Utica?
I just got an idea for a Tech Talk thread. "Of all the skis you disliked which one was the best?"
