When I moved to Seattle from Albany, I was thankful that at least it was 44f and raining and no longer 34f and raining.

I disagree. Have you seen what those Bills Mafia boys have done on game days with a bit of the white stuff?

Crazy place, Tug Hill. Snows like a mother. Hardly anybody lives there even though it's a huge area. Big for snow machining I hear. That's the Mohawk Valley south of the 'Daks there.edit: I've tried 3 times to fix the formatting but it keeps coming out the same. Brave New World stuff I guess.

Wait until these people do their taxes a year or two down the line. You can't discount that $30-50,000 property tax anymore, to start.

Read today that Cuomo’s ban on out of staters from certain states entering NY is keeping Chatauqua homeowners from accessing their lake houses.

This is the kind of shit that can start things you’re not prepared for.

My earliest experiences with powder over three feet deep was Snow Ridge, for sure.

Snow Ridge. Might be tiny but you sure as hell can have fun there as a kid. Raising hell and breaking things. Like rope tows, skis, cars and bones.

That place is like lord of the flies for kids.

This sounds a lot like Mt. Brighton, Michigan, my stomping grounds from ~7 - 13. Mom would drop us off at first chair and pick us up at last chair. The inmates ran that asylum. Every skier should be so lucky as to grow up on such a bump.

Also, TJ Burke and Dexter Rutecki are from there.

Me? EHS. Lots of good memories. Grew up close enough to the water to be a Bay Rat.
Oh I'm familiar with the Whipples, my parents were friends with the Morris' and Al Maerz and we lived in W. Irondequoit. I know quite a few of the IHS hockey guys from that era. After college I started water skiing with the club on the bay and lived in a couple different houses on the water down there.

Yup, I was a Snow Ridge kid too stomping on ketchup packs in the Wax House with my Cubco adapted boots on. I hated those fucking bindings, everybody knew you had them cause of those stupid plates screwed onto your boots.

Another set of my parents friends moved to Turin, ended up running the Ridge for awhile and my buddy still lives in Lyons Falls. Went to visit him last winter, took a few runs and had a beer at the Candlelight or whatever it's called now.

Last I heard he married a nice radio host and is living comfortably at the base of Ajax.

He retired from the Aspen Ski School last year but still judges the annual Powder 8s competition.

No no TJ Brk disappeared in a fog of lies and gunpowder smoke, carrying an aluminum softball bat and a head full of mental illness, into the wilds somewhere north of Tremblant.

Yeah that was a pretty serious public meltdown if I remember right. He was hit pretty hard when we lost Plakespeare because he was also struggling with cancer and somehow lost his VA coverage.

Wherever Teej is, I just hope he hung onto the blonde. She was quite the looker.

Next winter I’m gonna don my Mt Brighton maintenance crew hat, get loaded, strip naked and run through the snow covered streets of Ellicottville in honor of Dex.

He was certainly an odd ball who may have told a few stories not based on any facts
