Good thing it hasn't snowed in month down there. Fewer tourons on the hill should make a nice defense for Tahoe

I may lose 10-50 percent of my client work this year due to this virus, that's me 'keeping things in perspective'. And this downturn is not reliant on it blowing up in the US at all, it's decisions based on the 'fear of the spread'.

“A person is smart. People (on the other hand) are dumb, panicky, dangerous animals.”

If I get covid I doubt I would die. Still doesn’t mean I’m not gonna prepare myself to weather society’s panic. I don’t mean surround my house with sandbags and weapons. I mean a few extra supplies to remain comfortable during any temporary slowdown.

Does that make me part of “the problem”? If anyone wants to stand on a soapbox and rail against the idea that people are panicky go ahead. I’ll be over here with the clean butthole and cold beer and tasty snacks.

When was the last time the seasonal flu shut down global supply chains?

In the next week or 2, the last of the chinese cargo ships will reach the US. Nobody knows when the next will arrive but we all know it won't be in March. Probably not in April or May either. It's gonna be months!
Does anyone really understand how much the USA depends on China for our everyday lifestyle?
I'm sure I don't and it's gonna be a painful education this Spring.

Bought a few boxes of Cheez-Its at Costco today. I guess I'm a prepper now, too.

Gonna be a lot less flu cases once people start washing their hands regularly and staying home a bunch, avoiding sick people.

Interesting. It's entirely possible this Coronavirus scare could be a net positive in saving lives.

If people who drive our trucks and trains are in home quarantine then it doesn’t matter where your toilet paper or dog food is made. If it’s stuck in the warehouse your access is decreased.

For snacks I’m going with this in hopes the spicy flavor is lethal to the virus

This thread seems able to be righting itself every time it wobbles. So I think we're good.

I don't doubt any of that for a second but the response - and not just in the US by any means - seems way out of proportion to the severity of the sickness. I mean here are the numbers: https://gisanddata.maps.arcgis.com/a...23467b48e9ecf6

I bet more people have died of the flu in California than have died of covid-19 in the world. And apparently the Irish are immune anyways, so I should be good.

Unlike the French, I take regular showers, so I never really had the need.

The flu is already starting to die down for seasonal reasons

That include jet evac? Cause you don't want to end up in a hospital south of the border. Mostly because they only take cash.
