I bet more people have died of the flu in California than have died of covid-19 in the world. And apparently the Irish are immune anyways, so I should be good.
What I think people are not realizing with the WuFlu is that it's so contagious as well as novel. We don't fully understand it, we don't have a vaccine and it's spreading very fast around the globe. The virus could infect 60% of the global population this year, which is not what the regular flu does.

Yup and 2% of 7.8 billion people is a lot of dead fuckers.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

In the next week or 2, the last of the chinese cargo ships will reach the US. Nobody knows when the next will arrive but we all know it won't be in March. Probably not in April or May either. It's gonna be months!
Does anyone really understand how much the USA depends on China for our everyday lifestyle?
I'm sure I don't and it's gonna be a painful education this Spring.

More than 50 people linked to skilled nursing facility in Washington to be tested for coronavirus

More than 50 residents and staff from the Life Care Center in Kirkland, Washington, will be tested for the novel coronavirus because they’re experiencing symptoms, said Dr. Jeffrey Duchin, health officer for Seattle and King County, Washington.

Duchin said there are "approximately 108 residents at the facility and about 180 staff. And among the residents, we've had reports that approximately 27 have some sort of symptoms and among the staff, approximately 25. We're going to be working in collaboration with a CDC team, which will be arriving tonight, to assess each and every one of these people and provide the appropriate guidance around isolating. And all of these people will be tested, and we'll take every step to minimize any potential for exposure of others. But at this point the investigation is just getting started."

So far, there are two cases of the virus linked to the skilled nursing facility, Duchin said during a US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention briefing on Saturday.

More on the cases: One case is in a health care worker, a woman in her 40s who is hospitalized in satisfactory condition. She had no relevant history of travel. The other case is a woman in her 70s who was a resident of the center. She is in serious condition in another hospital.

Friend decided not to ski in Italy next week. It wasn't the risk over there, it was the risk of not getting back, and getting quarantined in Alabama. Perfectly realistic scenario, considering the Trump/Pence program upon us.

Travel is a massive worldwide industry. Its shutting down to nothing. Sure, it will be back, but, in the meantime, in a world so heavily laden with debt, this is not good. Italy alone was teetering on recession, and they live on tourism. This will be bad.

Civil authority coverage typically only applies to civil orders from covered causes of loss (wildfires, hurricanes, etc). Any losses from viruses and bacterial infections are typically excluded unless it is just for cleanup. It’s almost as standard as the war exclusion. Always good to read your policy to check for a way to attach coverage but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Kirkland (Costco) toilet paper is made in Canada so safe there. LOL! Could not figure out why the rush on TP so I did some Googling. Looks like it stems from stories of Chinese buying out TP which makes sense as their country is in quarantine. Here not so much.

The hoarding water baffles me too. Do people think infrastructure is going to collapse or poisoned?

If the truck drivers and train staff and cargo plane workers are stuck in 2 week long home quarantines then that could affect you access to Canadian toilet paper and anything else that’s not made in your home city. It’s not a reason to surround your house with sandbags and machine guns. But if you’re gonna use the toilet paper up anyway and it doesn’t spoil with time why not stock up and be comfortable through any shipping slowdown.

As for the armored car drivers and gasoline truck drivers etc - if they’re all at stuck at home we may see some interesting effects from that

I suppose. Good thing I made a Costco run earlier this month. I did notice that you can still buy Costco TP on Amazon.

I read some Facebook comments attached to a news article about the recent appearances in our state. it's truly appalling how many people out there believe this is way overhyped and the news media is doing it to screw Trump. Guess when you're dear savior plants that seed the rest just repeat it.

My wife is a doc at a local hospital and trust me when I say they are not prepared for the onslaught of patient's that will be coming in and infecting everyone else in the hospital. Hell, one person going into a hospital in California made many dozens of healthcare workers have to leave for 2 weeks. Hopefully no one needs to use the hospital for any other reasons for the next few months.

Another alarming trend is that doctors who are in their thirties and forties in China are dying at a much higher rate then the public due to exposure to increased viral loads, particularly when intubating patients. It happened with SARS as well back in 2003.

But if the postal workers and courier services have a staffing shortage is that prime delivery gonna show up or they gonna be tasked to deliver medications (insulin/heart pills/antibiotics etc) and hospital supplies (for the over-run facilities). Our TP orders may not be prioritized. Can always use your non dominant hand and some water. But if you’re buying TP packs anyway why not but 2 or 3? They don’t go stale. Throw in some pasta and rice and AAA batteries to your cart. A few cases of summer beers and some popcorn. Might be a relaxing summer if you’re between the age of 20 and 50.

Maybe people need to worry less about TP and water and more about getting their affairs in order. I mean.. if you're gonna take this to the Nth degree.

When the TP wars come down can you trust that the delivery person won't steal your TP?

I’m gonna sell my TP for $10 a roll. Have to predict that some of that profit will go to my 24hr security team but still seems like it’ll work out.
