I'm getting a shit ton of them today (on my home VOIP line). Every 20 minutes or so. Some have been some call center person speaking barely intelligible English. Another a computer generated voice telling me that my Social Security number has been used for illegal activities and that they need me to call and straighten it out or I will go to jail.
However, the most annoying is the calls that just say "goodbye" when I answer them.

Fuck me. I'm just going to unplug my phone. Apparently now they have some information for me about compensation for a diabetic drug that I may have paid too much money for.
I called bullshit since I (and no one in my family) is diabetic. Thanks again for trying dude. I hope whatever they are paying you in the that call center in India is worth getting the phone slammed in your ear multiple times over.

    Shit that annoys you

^^^ Try to engage these guys in conversation. I had a hilarious talk with a scammer after point-blank asking if his bs ever actually worked. Once he knew I knew he was scamming, he was happy to talk about it. He went on and on about how dumb people can be. We both had a good laugh.

I'd love to engage them in conversation but they all seem to be speaking Chinese or Russian these days.

The last time I drove down to Western Mass though, I nearly had an aneurysm just crossing town at rush hour. No idea how I survived that shit all my life.

I find Vermonters to be frustrating as hell when driving.

Getting harassed by debt collectors looking for my ex-wife who I haven't even seen in like 12 years. Even worse is when they call my new wife's phone! Not cool.

My dad had a term for those VT drivers, drungeicks.

Vermont already has only a 50mph state speed limit, and unquestionably has the highest percentage of slow drivers in the universe, as there are many people who routinely drive 10mph under. But at least you can also legally pass on a double yellow line in VT, so there's that.

The most humorous thing about those drivers is that as you enter a town and the speed limit slows to 35mph, they don't slow down, their speed remains constant.

Anyone else get the calls in Chinese? I get one or two a day now. Apparently the message says that they owe back taxes and they are going to be jailed and deported if they don’t pay.

I'm in same boat as Austin...and they do leave a message. I can either call them back and tell them to quit calling me OR they keep calling and leaving messages.

It also annoys me that they won't give me any info when they call. I can't tell them anything if I don't know wtf they're inquiring about. I usually just give them her number and hung up...but it still annoys me.

This drives me bonkers when driving east on Rt 2 between Montpelier and St Johnsbury. Coming into Masrhfield, the speed limit drops to 35. The "drungeicks" keep their pace of 40-45 through the village while I slow down to 35. Then by the time I get to the passing zone on the big hill climb just outside of town, where the speed limit goes back up to 50, the other vehicle is too far ahead to get passed by the top of the hill. That is, unless I suck down a 1/4 of my gas tank heavily accelerating up the hill to catch them.

Damm, I need that law here!

I swear, my car has a problem being in between 35-45mph. Those speeds are in between my gearing or something

Do they spoof local numbers for you too? Ex has an area code on the other side of the country but they spoof a local Montana number. SO annoying.

Yeah, gotta love that maneuver too. "What is this about?" "We can't give you that information." "So you expect me to help you HOW exactly, then?"

You guys do realize that merely by answering you confirm that there's a live person behind that number and tag yourself for further inundation? Don't answer a call from any number you don't recognize. If it's something/someone legit, they'll leave a message. Sucks it has to be that way, but that's the reality of the current situation.

Can/should the government or phone network companies step in and stop all this somehow?

It kinda fits in though, with everything else insane happening in the country/world right now. Everything feels ass backwards lately

Too true, but also tough to do when you depend on answering many unknown calls for business. I receive probably an equal amount of legitimate calls from across the country. Pretty sad when I now trust "local" numbers less than I do some random area code.

    East wind.

    Ugh.

Been blowing a gale force for days here and now it's shifted to the east. Everything on my farm is built for the prevailing SW winds. When it comes out of the east it's a nightmare. Blowing hay. Blowing Shavings. Water buckets full of both and livestock with little respite from the wind.

Sounds like our house, but we are built for N-NW winds. Big south facing doors and windows howl and make noise when S wind blows, and don't even think about cooking on the grill, almost burned the house down with a S wind once. Plus south winds=warm, snow-melting

Yup - east winds here are usually Chinooks but in the valley melting snow is generally a good thing as long as it's not too fast.
