    Kitty Stoke

Just woke up from a nap crying.
Sister showed up first time since she passed.
It’s been 5 months but wound is still so fresh.
I’m all fucked up right now.
Heading to the gym to wear myself out.
I really, really miss my black cat.

hang in there, nmc. after my 18 year old jake died i felt her jump up on the bed in the middle of the night for years. it was so cruel. sometimes, in my half sleep i would forget and reach down to greet her in the dark, only to be met by empty space and another pang in my broken heart. it doesn't happen often now after 14 years but i miss her every day and tell her i love her whenever i drive by her grave.

I thought about this a couple times today.

We all go through this because we like our pets and they don't live very long.

    Let me make a suggestion.

Somewhere near you there is a shelter, and there are cats there who have been lost or abandoned. And they are awesome kittys, who are scared and upset.

You cant save them all. you you could save one. Why not just go save a scared kitty. Give it a real home. Let it feel safe and show its belly as it sleeps in a safe place. Near you, someone to trust and love

    Do it right now!

My Mr. Kitty, as long as I have had him. Whenever he comes in the house from outside. He goes strait to his food and water dish. He needs to make sure he has food. Because many years ago. He did not have food when he needed it.

Thank you, MTT, Meadows Skipper, wyeaster and JongDoe.
TGR cat mags are the best.

wyeaster, I feel those jumps all over the house where her favorite spots were.
When it happens, it always makes me cry and I wish it really is her in some sort of form.

    Today really sucked.

There is a FB page called "lost and found pets in walla walla and surrounding areas" were people post lost and found pets (duh) but the other day someone posted her grandmother's cat who was in need of a home because grandma was moving to assisted living. It was so sad. Grandma was the only person the cat had known and now she was going away and he had to find a new home.

so many stories like that.. And as I said there are so many animals out there like that.
And they are not all kittens. so many good animals out there that need a place to be safe and loved.
I really wish nutmegchoi would go save Kitty, to help an animal who has fallen on hard times. and maybe heal her broken heart.

The pain and emptiness... and hearing the song' Don't you forget about me" the morning after she passed as I rode up the tram. Crying to myself.
About 6 months later I did exactly as this post describes and rescued Vinegar, a 14 year old, 5 pound curmudgeon from here:Click image for larger version.

She had been abandoned after a nasty divorce and fended for herself for a year.

I love her... We leave Florida tomorrow morning for a cross country trip back to JH. So much fun to have my Lil 'ole gal with me.

That's so awesome. Not everyone has empathy for animals. some people are down right cruel to them.

The people who post here seem to love animals as I do.

I am a grown man and your post made me cry just a bit.

Just to lighten it up a bit, here’re my two, chilling. It looks like they don’t much miss their former lives in the shelter.

I hear you guys, but I don’t think we are getting another cat.
Sister was a stray and was mine first 8 years.
Then boyfriend walked into our lives 10 years ago.
He never been much of a cat person, but he deeply loved Sister.
He said he finally stopped looking for her when he walks up.
Since he grew up with hunting dogs, he really wants a dog.
I love dogs as well and want him to have his choice of companion this time.
But if another cat or dog shows up to our doorstep, our door and heart will be wide open.

Djongo, this was my road buddy Sister.
We moved from Houston to Minneapolis,
    Minneapolis to New York together.
    She was a traveler.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

I was just coming here to say that. Friends of mine have a hunting dog (German Shorthair) and a cat. It can work... if it feels right to you. An older cat or a kitten would work.

And to you in the mood, here's my new barn kitten Iddy learning to use the cat door:

One of our cats - Scout - was spayed on Friday, and has been suffering this indignity for a few days. I’ve taken the cone off a few times, but she immediately starts licking the incision, so back on it goes. In the meantime we are enjoying watching her bumping into things and generally being awkward...![emoji3]

Nutmeg we’ve had both cats and dogs together at the same time, and the relationships have always been great. Cats and dogs learn to be good buddies.
