ESPN 3 is ESPN's online service. I have all the channels on DISH but I just go to the website and watch FP2, Qualifying and the Race there. My phone just connects with my TV and I can watch everything on the TV. If you have cable with ESPN you should have access to all of ESPN's online content for free.

    Sounds like it.

He was already 0.8 up on same tires when Stroll put his car in the gravel and ended his session

And apparently he wasn't allowed to make any set up changes to car so as to not disturb aero testing...correlation of new parts to wind tunnel numbers.

He should be in one of those cars full time.

It would seem that way. I assume it's a contract thing that is keeping the current guys where they are. Stroll has seemed capable at times...at other times, not so much.

I guess Ferrari is trying to get away with something with those mirrors. Have to think they won't continue to get away with it (although I also assume the effect is minor).

Stroll and Sirotkin bring the cash that keeps the team afloat.

Next year they are losing Martini sponsorship. (Which was apparently very low $ amount for the sport - I assume Martini are going to Sauber-Alfa?)

Stroll senior will probably end up owning controlling share of team maybe with some Russian oligarch. They fired chief designer yesterday too. Sad to see Williams fall this far.

Rule change was just made to allow halo mounted mirrors. I'd guess more teams will adopt it in time.

Apparently the rear facing camera used in Formula E is being considered.

^williams were competitive enough a few years back that I actually believed Bottas would be a title contender in the Merc. Guess I was wrong- he seemed good in the wet, at least.. Maybe Rosberg was better than I thought he was. Either way they’ve taken such a dive, and losing the coolest classic livery out there is a good nail for the coffin.

3rd in Constructors in 20114 and 15 yep.

I think the 2016 car the FW38 was a real dog, just really a development of the 37 which was just really a 36. They fell down the rankings dramatically which spirals into lost sponsor revenue, reduction in prize money. Means taking on Stroll and Dad's money. then Sirotkin and his... That and Claire Williams taking over... Hanging so much maybe all on the hiring of Paddy Lowe.. who must be wondering what the hell he's done.

Bottas and Rosberg are both really good (Rosberg ahead by a little)... but being team mate to Hamilton is a nearly impossible challenge I'm not a fan of him but he is without a doubt one of the most talented race car drivers of all time. Lots of speculation about him this year.. I am beginning to wonder if he is going to surprise everyone with an off the wall end of contract decision.

Right, so they have to leave those guys regardless of who the fastest driver is. But Stroll did have a 3rd place finish once (I remember it being a fairly messed up race where he probably could have just as easily finished in eighth, or something), and has had a number of top 10 finishes, in addition to I think having been an F3 champion before getting this ride. So it seems he's not completely untalented, but if it's true that Kubica was 1.2 ahead of him with same tires/set-up that really says something.

Could be a big improvement from what I understand about how limited the view is from the current mirrors. Still, given that Ferrari is clearly using the new mounting as an aero improvement I wonder if it will stand.

And this week they have practice 3 on ESPN News, which is a channel that my cable provider apparently no longer carries (kind of amazing, considering how many other ESPN channels it has).

I have to think that making it challenging to know where to watch is not going to build a steady following.
I went looking for practice this morning and ending up watching the entire last race..on my phone.

There's a huge pile of cash behind that title... rumor is his father shelled out $80m to get Lance into F1.

Buying the best F4 and F3 team in Europe. Allegations of using team orders to help Stroll. Poaching Ferrari F1 engineers to engineer his son, funding new Williams simulator that had his son getting guaranteed seat time in it. Running newest allowed Williams F1 at multiple private tests around Europe. funding a southern hemisphere race season as well as the F3 Euro one.

The podium last year at Baku was a complete fluke.

I always wonder/wondered the cost in any of the pay to play scenarios. 80 mil is awfully significant

FIA has banned them. This race will be their only appearance.

Meant to ask before what people think of the Ricciardo/Verstappen crash last week. Especially after seeing the POV slo mo analysis I think it's obvious Verstappen made a double move to block, which I think he has done quite a few times now. Given the rules, I am surprised there hasn't been more action taken with him (although I also get that he's very popular). Also the previous contact with his teammate I would also say was his fault, and again a case of him pushing things too far.

Yes, I was rethinking my half-hearted defense of him watching that.

I’d say he’s better than Gutiérrez, who was also a thinly-veiled gentleman’s son driver too, right?

    Typical boring Barcelona race.

and this for the Halo haters... Makino believes halo saved his life in F2 crash

at 1.45 shows Fukuzumi's car climbing over his cockpit.

If you're not watching F2 this season you should be.. wild racing, a hugely talented grid and a new car designed to promote close running and overtaking.

I talk crap about ESPN a fair amount, but I've got to give them credit for not interrupting race coverage with commercials.
