    This belongs here.

A man jogging attempts to overtake a 10 y/o girl riding a bike, in doing so he runs into her back tire and hurts himself...so.. He sues the girl.

    Fucking cyclists.

I had no ideas the laws above existed. I think that is hilarious.

Big argument in Sacramento lately (although overshadowed by more pressing concerns of late)--cyclists running down peds on sidewalks, cars running down cyclists and peds in the street, bike lanes that start and stop.

I believe the law in SF is kids can ride bikes on the sidewalk but not adults.

In most large cities that I'm aware of, cyclists aren't allowed on the sidewalk in the central business district.

Even if you are being chased by a road-rage crazy driver trying to run you down?

Cyclists should act like pedestrians if they are on a sidewalk: walk or be rolling at an attentive & respectful slow pace

I doubt the ordinance is neighborhood specific, but I'll try to look it up over. Not
many kids are riding the mean streets on bikes any how let alone in FIDI, so it's kind of moot court any way

Sacramento has been studying the issue for a couple of years and still hasn't finalized the rules but basically they want to ban cyclists from some sidewalks but not others.

Agree that on sidewalks cyclists should slow down, yield to pedestrians--basically act like pedestrians. (Same applies to scooters and motorized wheelchairs. I had a guy in the hospital--30's, lost both legs to diabetes--who kept running into nurses on his scooter. We had to take it away. Lots of people fly through the crowded halls in the hospital on their scooters and wheelchairs way faster than walkers.)

This old fart creams his shorts every time he gets to scream profanities in front of mid-day shoppers at some hipster dildo weaving their fixie around pedestrians on the sidewalk. Averaging about once a month, which is all his old heart can stand.

IIRC, the rules in DC and NYC were neighborhood-specific. It makes sense to allow people to hide from traffic by riding the sidewalk along surface arterials in e.g. Queens or Ward 7.

This sort of thing is really where we need sensible people making sensible rules so that we get sensible outcomes.

They should make it mandatory for cyclists to carry. As I understand it, that should make them safer.

Old fart vs hipster dildo--a match worth watching.

My kid in Boston rides his bike to work all year, rain, shine, or snow. Sometimes he wears his goggles. For Xmas we gave him new goretex for riding. Reason--parking at work costs $400/month and the T doesn't go anywhere near it. As far I know he doesn't report people for parking in bike lanes. I'm not sure Boston has bike lanes.

Cyclists would be safer with no bike lanes than with bike lanes that are periodically blocked by cars.
In my neighborhood I would give a pass to construction vehicles--most of the time they have no option.
Did you watch the video? I was expecting double parked cars but its the middle of fucking winter and there are snowbanks everywhere narrowing the road. This douche apparently thinks no parking is allowed in such a scenario and everyone else must cater to his bike lane. Meanwhile he chooses to ride in lanes with a wide open shoulder in other videos. Legal, sure, is he an asshole, definitely.

This is the guy who gives cyclists a bad name.

Holy shit. How has this douchebag not gotten a beatdown? He's like politenessman, but over the top. There were plenty of gaps for him to move to the bike lane and let cars go by, yet he chose to show them that he has the right, blah blah blah. Endangering his life. I watched that whole thing because i was amazed - he's gotta stop being a douche, no he doesn't.
