I've never skied or even flexed a standard pair of BG's so can somebody give me some stiffness reference points to go on? I've been on mostly Bluehouse skis for the past few years as they pretty much gave those things away and I have a garage full of them. I have a couple of pairs of Bluehouse Shoots (191cm) which are the stiffest ski I've ever been on or flexed and they are no problem for me- I even have a pair mounted tele. I am 6' and ~215 lbs and ski fairly aggressively/fast. Should I play it safe and get the 1.5's or step up to the Aevergreene's? Appreciate any input from those experienced with these. Thanks.
Go down to the factory in SE Portland and ask to manhandle some goods!

Damn those 191 Shoots are stiff...I remember those.

I’d say 1.5x flex if you still want a little bit of “forgiveness” - they will still be stiff.

Go Aever Flex if you want bigger turns and huge landing stability over anything else.

The shape and RES will still let them smear and Pivot either way.

If anyone wants some 2014 191 BG Tours, PM me.

They are in pretty darn good shape, I think 45ish days on them. No core shots, no edge problems.

So, ruled out Aever flex. Have accepted that my skiing will never reach those lofty reaches of radness.

So, still hung up on standard versus 1.5. I still want to be able to turn them in the trees.

I would go regular if you want a long ski that can handle powdery trees well.

You can count on them being badass at speed, even in the regular flex. They have slightly less tail rocker, so should be a little more stable than old 191 Goats. Plus the new “regular” flex feels a little stiffer than the old “regular” flex..

I have never ridden an On3p that didnt handle speed well..

Bandit, you’ve seen me ski, briefly. I would go standard flex, not 1.5 for Stevens. The tight, steep trees there are serious. I’d much rather “tolerate” the performance at speed in variable snow than have a ski I can’t turn. They are going to destroy the cascade concrete in either flex. They will maneuver better in the tight spots in the standard flex. And my knees aren’t getting younger.

Just 1 opinion, but that’s how I’d play it. I’d go standard.

Bandit, as much as I know I would like the stiff I am going stock flex. My 191 Billys have always killed the POW and crud (as you already know) so I am going to stay with the standard flex especially since the updated version compared to ours is stiffer. The SG is a big ski, but I still want a well rounded versatile POW ski/day after storm ski that I do not have to go mach looney to turn. Plus I do want to be able to take them in the trees and I have more than once had my ass handed to me in tight trees on demanding stiff skis and do not want to repeat. In addition I travel quite a bit to ski and I want whatever ski I take to handle pretty much all or most conditions and terrain. So the short of it is I agree with what B and SC shared above.

I have two pairs of 191 Billys and I have a pair that have been mounted, but never skied that will be hitting Gearswap in Nov.

Ok, trigger pulled on SG's. 1.5 flex, black top sheet, green sidewall. Stoked.

I only expected 10-12. Close but not there yet.

I’ll get my order in over the next day or two. Just moving some funds around but will have a pair.
