The Wasatch Front has 2 million people. Denver Metro has 2.8 million. SLC isn't as tiny as you think, and they have drastically better road infrastructure for getting to the mountains.

How many of those 2 million in Utah want to ski on Saturday/Sunday? How many of the 2.8 million in Colorado want to ski on Saturday/Sunday? Yes, the three lanes to Park City doesn't have traffic; how many of the Utah skiers above choose Park City? How many of the Denver skiers choose an I-70 resort? They can't possibly be close.

All of the above is true, plus the fact that Utah has 5+ canyons to go up to the various ski resorts from the population centers of SLC, Ogden and Provo. It really spreads people out.

Denver has one shitty highway. All the more reason that the highway needs to be improved or other roads need to open up.

look at highways in the mtns they always have southern exposure, build a highway facing the north and it'll get ugly quick, drive through byers canyon sometime in the winter, people think the 30 mph speed limit is a joke

They should build a high end resort in the middle of the San Juans and the only way to get there is by Hyperloop. Maybe Amazon could fund it and it would be the sole Olympic venue for the 2026 games.

Reality is, like you said, the current resorts are already overcrowded. Speeding up transportation will only exacerbate the problem. Yay property Values though!

Indeed... little expansions don't solve it. Abasin, Loveland, Keystone, Breck are exceeding their overflow parking most weekends... I Imagine it is the same at Copper and Vail. Expanding I70 without permitting another 2-3 huge resorts on the corridor... I'm sure the USFS and the environmental folks will be all about that!!!

Expand Copper to the summit of Vail Pass? Expand Breck all the way to Peak 1? Connect everything with trams and manage the terrain like the Euros and it would be viable and pretty cool. However that idea is almost as fanciful as getting it past the environmentalists and NIMBYs.

Connect the entire Ten mile and Gore range with high speed quads! Willow lakes would be an amazing venue for a Ritz Carlton! I could book a weekend a year at the Deluge Lake Marriot. Mt Powell would be so much easier via tram! So Euro!

All Colorado Congress members to Jeff Bezos: Build Amazon HQ2 here

It’s not every day that Colorado’s entire congressional delegation unites around one goal, but it happened Wednesday with the objective of landing Amazon.com Inc.’s massive second headquarters complex.

Both of the state’s U.S. senators and all seven of its members of the U.S. House of Representatives signed a letter sent Wednesday to Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, urging the e-commerce giant to pick Colorado as the site for its “Amazon HQ2.”

“Colorado offers a highly skilled workforce and a demonstrated commitment to providing the environment and lifestyle that businesses and their workers need to thrive,” the joint letter says. ( Download it here.)
