Good: Fun for plinking. You feel badass using the carry handle. Iron sights work well enough to hit a pumpkin at 200 yards.

Bad: Heavy, not very accurate, poor ergonomics, barrel flex issues, magazines are really expensive.

Buy one if you want a fun, powerful plinker. It's not ever going to be a good long range gun compared to modern stuff. Think of it like a m1 garand. Just enjoy it as is, don't bolt a bunch of tacticool crap on it.

Sadly, those build kits have mostly dried up.

There are build kits around, FALfiles market place usually has some as well as rifles that folks are selling.

Mags are not as pricey as they were although the high quality receivers are whats really hard to come by for a build.

Guess I am gonna put it on the back burner for now.

The M1A1 seems like a better option for a usable "battlefield rifle" if one has a need for something to fill that niche. Or an AR-10? And yes, I still want an FAL that I will probably never have.

Cool guys run FN Scar17s or some sort of gas piston .308 "AR10" variation.

I haven't gotten to really play with one yet, but from a fondle, there's something about the whole SCAR series that speaks to me. The PDW was particularly cool.

SCARS are just south of 3K, I can appreciate the design and all but for that much coin there needs to be historical or collector value in it for me.

The .308 version is pretty magic. Much power, light weight, no recoil.

KelTec CMR-30? .22 WMR. 30-rnd mags that do not protrude. Possible to find on the web below the $630 MSRP. Ya, I know it is KelTec. If I had spare coin I would still have to check it out. It looks like maybe it has truck gun, for those of you who feel the need for that kind of thing, potential too as it looks compact.

It's going to be the typical: we went and blew through 3k rounds, shot steel targets like madmen, used a cannon, bbq'd some meat, get paid, go home early, etc.

LOL. I am actually thinking seriously about one of these now. So I am truly interested in the gun.

I'll report back re:reliability and such. Like I said it looks cool but feels like a piece of shit, like all Keltecs. I've had mixed results with the PMR30 but maybe the longer barrel will help. Or maybe they've worked out the bugs on the double stack mags.

Gun(fightersINC) fags - we're running a big blowout sale on some RANDUMB gear we have laying around. Basically good stuff but it's a returned custom order or old and we don't want to look at it. Like a Kenai Holster in a camo pattern or something. Or left handed Ruger SR9c holster. You can use your maggot discount code on top of the sale prices. https://gunfightersinc.com/product-c...-of-july-sale/ (if you need/want a code, PM me.)

Just got our hands on a CZ P10c. Wow. Best stock trigger I've ever felt. Better than PPQ or VP9.

    TR:
Collectively shot 3000 rounds of 9mm in 3 hours.

    VP9 vs PPQ vs P320 vs P10c.

VP9: Good trigger, reset is springy and kind of weird. Not my favorite. Height over bore is high. Good gun.

PPQ: Great trigger, and ergonomics. Height over bore is high and it's the snappiest of the bunch. Good gun.

P320c: Good trigger. Grip ergonomics feel very Sig like (good or bad). Softest, smoothest recoil impulse. Good gun.

P10c: Best trigger, lowest bore height and is most controllable. Grip texture is a tad aggressive in my opinion. Good gun.

Basically, you can't go wrong with any of these guns. Pick the one that looks the coolest and you like the feel of and shoot it.

P229 Legion still the softest shooting with the best trigger, and when running drills I am still the fastest with it, even with the DA/SA trigger.

CMR30 didn't make it out on the range, couldn't find ammo for it in time.

S'happens. Glad fun was had by all. A thought occurred to me about that gun. If one adds a vertical foregrip does it become an AOW? Because it can still fire from the 22" collapsed size?
