smoke weed and then go shopping? yeah right. It does help though. One thing that annoys me is that when I go on a trip by plane I can't sleep the night before--start thinking about the stuff that can go wrong, like I could be dragged off the plane on my face. Cannabis cured that the last trip I took.

Guy walking on the American River Bike Trail is run down by a hit and run cyclist.
    http://digital.olivesoftware.com/Oli...EE39&mode=text
But wait--the guy was walking on the wrong side of the bike trail and was hit from behind. Also, pedestrians are supposed to walk on the crushed rock shoulder, not on the pavement. I see people walking on the pavement on the wrong side when I ride my bike on the AR Bike Trail all the time.

Around Truckee I see the same thing on the bike trails along Donner Pass Rd and along the Truckee River. Most walkers also don't seem to know that state law requires them to step off the bike trail and yield to bikes when possible, rather than forcing cyclists out into traffic. I'm amazed that people wrong on the wrong side on Donner Pass Rd, given the number of people driving and looking at their phones--they drift into the bike lanes all the time.
So maybe this belongs in the Fucking Pedestrians thread.
Still, the guy didn't deserve to get hit, and cycling while looking at your phone is just as dumb as doing it driving.

If someone walking while looking at their phone is hit by someone driving looking at their phone---we have a Darwin winner and a potential Darwin winner.

And yeah, I am an old grump--I seem to hold the post record in the Things That Annoy You thread, or so I'm told.

I routinely deal with the pedestrian on the wrong side of the bike path while walking dogs 6 times/day. Bikes seem to not be bothered by having to veer around me (always make eye contact though) - it's other fucking pedestrians that cause the most "fun". From annoyed stares, through 15 minute stair downs while refusing to engage in any discussion of the issue, all the way to screaming out "In America we do it the right way - GO BACK WHERE YOU CAME FROM!!". And I live in an "educated" town.

On the Truckee River bike trail Bikes This Side and Walkers This Side is painted on the pavement on the appropriate sides. I come across a women walking down the middle of the wrong side, which I kindly point out. She says the sign said to walk on this side. I say Did you notice the sign was upside down? Maybe this belongs in gaper of the week.

Boo Fucking Hoooooo........ Waaaaaa, waaaaaa, waaaaa........ You seriously cry more than my 8 month old.

Not everyone, but so many people are stupid. More and more people don't follow the road rules or follow rules of courtesy. You live on a fucking tourist route. What do you expect? If you want to drive somewhere where people follow the rules, go to Germany. It may be incredibly annoying, and dangerous, and life threatening that people don't follow the rules in 'merica, but as soon as you give up on assuming everyone else is going to follow the rules, and assume everyone is going to be an asswipe where karma may catch up to them eventually, you'll be significantly happier. person for it.

Is there any proven method to not be a grumpy old white dude and just be an old white dude? I'm over forty so I've got a good 20 years of driving in traffic to go until I'm officially old. I just want to make sure that I'm not complaining about stupid shit that is out of my control when I get there.

well, if people we just LISTEN to what us geezer are laying' down, the world would improve significantly and we'd have to find another hobby.

Oh, and this thread is custom made for old cranks, so fuck off.

Wait ..... fucking cyclists?!?! Ha! Age related dementia excuse! So still, fuck off.

Totally true, but its still incredibly lame and stupid to go to a sports related forum and complain about sports.

I just got yelled at and flipped off for going 15 mph up a dirt road here in flagstaff this past week. It's dusty but I was on a road for crying out loud.

I find myself consistently being annoyed by the local, 20 something year old enduro-brah crowd. I'm 41 and the guy that shows up for more trail days then I get to ride any more, it's hard to like these fucking kids.

You seem to be way grumpier than I am and taking this way more seriously than I do. Doesn't bode well for what you'll be like at 65. As far as me--I just thought the whole thing with the walk her/ride here was very amusing but it sounds like you're not in the mood to laugh; is the baby still keeping you up at night?

This thread is stupid, so I like to keep bumping it for no reason. I'm old don't ya know, I gotta be mad at something. We're getting the kid sleeping sorted. Slept through the night last night. But the bugs at Bunny Flat kept me up all Friday night prior to hiking to the summit so maybe I'm sleep deprived.

I rode the American river trail with the baby in the trailer on Sunday, had a picnic, then rode to the splash pool. I didn't see any hit and run bikers out there. I'll keep a lookout for you though.

Lots of people being assaulted by presumably homeless people and their dogs on the lower AR bike trail.

Yeah, I gave some of those homeless some food on my ride a few weeks ago. Maybe I'll start packing some pepper spray too. Also, how many is a lot?

It's been a while since anyone snowboarded down the hill behind my house, across the road and down my yard, mainly because there's usually a 10 -20 foot berm back there all winter and someone built a house back there. My kid used to build kickers on the hill on vacant lots.
