Last year they put up all these signs around here (it's a major biking attraction, this area, god help us), that say "Bicyclists can use full lane".
Hard no, as they say on Letterkenny.
Hah, and today's ride was like Ice Cube's "It Was A Good Day":
- saw 3 MILFs wearing yoga pants
- all the stops had waves n no rants
- heard Kendrick Lamar's new joint
- beat my time up to the point
- had great lines going downhill
- home in time for a quickie still
- y'all can bitch and whine
- today I got mine
This thread is beat to shit, have fun with it...

I almost got seriously hurt by a fucking school bus today. A fucking school bus, in near exurbia, on a beautiful sunny day. Passed me on the left and turned right, right in front of me, when I was in the intersection. Amazing. A school bus.
I'm fascinated by the American school bus system. Have you seen some of these people? One step removed from a meth treatment facility...and we hire them...to drive our children around...in a giant death machine and pay them dog-shit.
Every June, when the school year ends, I'm surprised that I haven't spent the previous 9mos reading about scores of dead children from bus crashes.
It makes perfect sense...until you think about it.
I suspect there's logic behind the madness, but I'm too dumb to see it.
Compartmentalization protects the kids. And they don't go very fast. And are bright yellow with flashing lights.
Statistically school busses are safer than ambulances.
I know, but, you don't. Tell me the last time you heard about a stupid school bus incident in your local area.
I had a buddy who lost his business and resorted to driving a school bus for a well to do local town. There is absolutely no drugs allowed. Had to detox for three months, and randomly tested throughout. Basically a two strike and you're out for violations. He had an incident where he hit a bad pothole and damaged the bus, with passengers, and he told me it was quite the process of interviews and drug testing afterwards, obviously for the benefit of the insurance company. Our local people follow every rule. Except this asshole. I just wrote a letter - got the plate number. This is war.

Repaving Donner Lake Rd at Donner Lake with one of two lanes closed. Big line of cars at the flagger. Cyclists pass the line of cars and get to the head of the line. When the pilot car comes and the line of cars starts moving the cyclists pull in in front of everyone and we get to follow them at 10MPH (pilot car is doing 25 and is quickly out of sight) for 2 miles. Which also makes the people waiting in the other direction wait longer as well. Is there some reason the cyclists can't wait in line like everyone else? They want to have their cake and eat it to--ride on the shoulder when it suits them, in the middle of the lane when it suits them. I guess they think they're special.
I'm a cyclist and I don't get this either. I wouldn't do that.

Ummm ...... more than five cars backed up behind means required to pull over? Especially easy for a bicycle. I'm placing them in the douchebag pile.

It's pretty simple. Don't be inconsiderate. In all things.

No. Well except for me--and I was way too far back for them to hear me, so just giving myself an ulcer. I was in a hurry to get to Safeway so I could stand behind some woman having a nice conversation with the checker instead of paying her bill and leaving. And she was one of those idiots who divides their groceries in two and wants two separate bills. (I really need to be more patient.)
The best way to avoid road rage (or grocery line irritation) is to allocate 10-15 more minutes to do anything these days.
That won't help--since most of the time when I'm being impatient I don't have anywhere to be at any particular time. Retired, you know. That's the whole point of being retired.
