TUBBIE!!!!! I love how they gave it a model name, as if there were other models to choose from. I'm guessing you've seen the depiction on the East Side Gallery... "Test The Rest"

Comparing a rally setup to what the public had is a joke.
Sure if my buddy had a grew and all kinds of money then perhaps he would have never sold it.
Yes early 80's Audi were just perfect...you're absolutely correct.

    Of course. My mistake.

I still can't believe what an epic piece of shit that thing must have been.

I don't care if Atrton Senna wrote that piece, someone got paid off to say a single glowing thing about that miserable looking thing.

That makes the LeBaron look like it's from 200 fucking years in the future.

Re: that Ford Tempo above. I wonder if you considered the Mercury family at the time? I believe my college buddy's Topaz of that same vintage offered playboy lounge-like luxury at a similar price point.

My guess is he didn't lower it enough and was too cheap to put on a different set of wheels. Would have transformed that car.

Seriously. Look what those simple moves can do for a PT Cruiser.

1987 Mustang GT 500 is the worst car I've owned by a long long margin.

Had a neighbor who drove an Oldsmobile Cutlass Diesel. Ugly as shit but he did have it for pretty much my entire childhood.

I'm gonna throw in another vote for the PT cruiser convertible. Photos don't do it's ugliness justice compared to in person. It looks like a cross between a bathtub on wheels and a hearse. I can't speak to any mechanical problems, but I wouldn't be caught dead in one if it ran 100k between oil changes and got 100mpg.

LOL. I just came in here to post about my first glorious car: a '79 Cutlass Supreme V8. By the time 1996 rolled around and it was handed down to me, it was running on 5 cylinders and leaked everything like a sieve. It lasted about 3 more months before it gave up the ghost.

Big pimping (not mine, but same color and interior)

I'm told the interior looked nice sometime in the early 80's. The central CA sun cracked the plastic dashboard into 1000 pieces and the upholstery and headliner crumbled to dust.
I've concluded that DJSapp was never DJSapp, and Not DJSapp is also not DJSapp, so that means he's telling the truth now and he was lying before.

I had a girlfriend who had an Olds Cutlass Ciera Brougham. A red velour couch on wheels.

I called it the Broom. She didn't like that....
