two years ago when we had snow, does anybody remember when magic opened? Just trying to gain an idea of when magic typically opens. I know Bluebird could probably offer some insight.
Looks like they have 12/17 as their opening day which is about when we used to open.
Yes that stretch was incredible, not just because it snowed a good amount, but from the Sunday of MLK weekend until early March it did not rain a drop. By the middle of Feb the woods were so skiable - and not just where the volunteers have cleared out - basically all the underbrush was covered so there were some great lines.
As for season passes, Geoff has been clear throughout the process that once the deal closes passes will be available at early season rates. Going back on his word is not his style, and not the way he wants to start the "New Magic" experience. I doubt the window for early season rates will last long so hesitate and you lose.
Good news travels fast. Motor City Madman will be killin' it in Londonderry too.
"Although Nugent will not officially join the board until January, current members say he is already contributing new and exciting ideas. One such suggestion is to import exotic animals from far-off places like Africa to be hunted right here in the Green Mountain State. "

YES! The answer to the age old question of how Magic can make some money during the summer - private hunting preserve! Fence it off, bring in some Deer, Moose, Bear, Lynx, Catamounts and scattered rare and endangered species, and charge for the privilege! The chair lifts can act as great hunting platforms. 4x4's can cart the kills to the base. Snowmaking guns (water only) to clean the carcasses. The BLT will be rocking - with Ted blasting of course. Why nobody thought of this before is beyond me.....
Damnit! We should have had Ted play at Ullr-fest.
Just went back and looked at some pics that Peruvian took. Magic was not open on 12-13-2014 so we skinned through the ice tunnel
The slednecks were out in force over at Timberside Cabin
After a quick lap at Timberside we made out way back over to Magic and found some sweet snow on Tali

Frustrating...closing did not happen yesterday as planned. A couple of documents weren't ready. Meanwhile work is going strong despite no paper changing hands. Any day now...

Pass purchased! Chrome and IE have problems with displaying the payment info page; had to use Firefox.

If it's too loud, you're too old
Just bought mine. I upgraded to Win 10 and Edge had no issues. [edit] I guess I opened it in Chrome, not Edge. Chrome had no issues for me.
Some pretty great deals to be had, not just for the prices but for the innovative offerings. The couples pass is one of the best ideas I've seen.
Website looks pretty sweet also.
I agree that the offerings are pretty cool. Holiday blackout, holiday whiteout, mid/pow day, local parent /kid/teacher, etc. I just wish I knew of the offerings when I was deciding on colleges 25 years ago. Who knew a Dartmouth degree would pay off so handsomely?!?!?!!
I really like the diverse offerings. A couples offering is really cool.
The only criticism I have from a business standpoint is that I think they priced the Throwback card too well and it might cut into pass sales. I can buy the card and ski 15 days before I'd benefit from buying the pass (at early bird prices). Given the uncertainty surrounding Magic, it seems like a smart decision for anyone who isn't likely to ski multiple days a week.
