A couple of us pre-rode the course for the local bike org's Archipelago ride last weekend.

There were some changes to the route from prior years because SoCal can't help itself from building more houses everywhere.

So we traded in a couple shitty climbs for a couple other shitty climbs, some boring fire road for some other boring fire road, and some meh singletrack for some other meh singletrack and a bit of poison oak.

Overall I like the new route, but that may be just because it's different. One segment of trail we've been fighting with the city over since 2008 is finally legal. Whoooooo!

Baby rattler was first obstacle on the day

A bit of horse trail was surprisingly nice - partly shaded, slightly downhill and lightly used (no fresh piles). Nothing says nature like 10 ft wide and lined by wood fencing on both sides!

Plenty of water crossings for a Socal route

    Plenty of flowers out too

    And plenty of green

Someone been buildin jumps on the trails. Guess if you go fast enough you clear the uprights?

Good day all in all, nice to finally get a long ride in.

Anyone ever see this one go, the last gully out of porcupine? Jawn claims he's made it but it seems super sketch to me. Falling off right is a looong way down

He gave it a handful of half-assed attempts before I got bored

We've had warm and dry conditions for a week. Last night it started to rain at the end of our ride.
Bam, went for totally brown to green overnight.

andrew made that ledge once- and if I recall correctly it was right after taking a huge digger on the ramps just back on the trail. split his shin wide open and I had to use one of my wrist sweat bands and an extra shirt to keep the skin together.
We start riding out and he surprised me by totally hopping up that thing. It's a wonder I don't have grey hair

I think he was on his SX trail then too so it's funny that Perry mentioned that bike above too

Man, you should have ridden up that ramp. You could have gained 2 feet!
